PLAN AHEAD
W ARNING:
Inspect area before start-
ing u nit. Remove all debris a nd hard objects
su ch a s ro cks, g la ss , wire, etc. that can rico-
chet, be thrown, or otherwise c ause injury or
damage during operation.

Always wear eye p rotection when operating,
servicing, or performing maintena nce o n unit.
Wearing eye protection will hel p to prevent
brush o r d ebris from beingthrown orricochet-
ing in to eye s and fa ce w hich can res ult in
blindness and/or serious injury. Eye protec-
tion should b e marked Z 87.

Wear hearing protection when using this
unit.

Secure hairabove shoulderlength.Secure
or remove jewelry, loose clothing, or cloth-
ing with loosely hanging straps, ties, tas-
sels, etc. They can be caught in moving
parts.

Stay alert. Do n ot operate unit when you are
tired,ill,up set,orifyouar eund erth ei nf lue nce
of alcohol, d rugs, o r medication.

Keep children, bystanders, and animals
away from work area aminimum of 30feet
(10 m) when s tarting or operating unit.
HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION

Eliminate all sources ofsparks orflame(in-
cluding smoking, openflames, or workthat
cancausesparks)intheareaswheref uelis
mixed, poured, or stored.

Mix andpour fuelin anoutdoor area;store
fuel ina cool, dry ,well ventilatedplace; use
an approved, marked container for all fuel
purposes.

Do not smoke while handling fuel or w hile
operating the unit.
D
Do not fill fuel tank while engine is running.
D
Make sure the unit i s properly assembled
and in goodoperating condition.
D
Avoid spilling fuel or oil. Wipe upfuel spills
before starting the engine.

Move atleast 10feet(3meters)awayfrom
fuel andfueling site before starting engine.

Always store gasoline in a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.
OPERATE YOUR UNIT SAFELY
DANGER:

--Blade
moves momentarily after the trigger is re-
leased. Do notattemptto clear away cutma-
terial when the blade is in motion. Make sure
the switch is in the OFF position, the spark
plug wire is disconnected, andthe blade has
stopped moving before removing jammed
materialfromthecuttingblade.Donotgrabor
hold the unit by the cutting blade.

Inspect unit before each use for worn,
loose, missing, or damaged par ts. Do not
use until unit is in proper working order.

Keep outside surfaces free from oil and
fuel.

Never start or run engine inside a closed
room or building. Breathing exhaust fumes
can kill.

in unventilated areas or where explosive
vapors or carbon m onoxide build up could
be present.

faces such as ladders,trees,steep slopes,

MAINTAIN YOUR UNIT PROPERLY

Have all maintenance other than the rec-
ommendedproceduresdescribedinthein-
struction manual performed by an autho-
rized service dealer.

Disconnect spark plug before performing
maintenance except for carburetor adjust-
ments.

Do not use a cutting blade that is bent,
warped, cracked, broken, or damaged in
any other way. Have worn or damaged
parts replaced by an authorized service
dealer.

Allow engine to cool, empty the fuel tank,
and secure theunit before storing ortrans-
porting it in a vehicle.
