GENERAL RE COMMENDATIONS
The warranty on this unit does not cover
items that have been s ubjected to oper-
ator abuse or negligence. To receive full
value from the warranty, the operator
must maintain unit as instructed in this
manual. Various adjustments will need
to be made periodically to properly
maintain your unit. Improper mainte-
nance may cause d amage to the unit
and possible injury to the operator orby-
standers.
CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR
WORN PARTS
Contact an author i zed s ervi ce dealer for
replacement of worn or damaged parts.
NOTE: It is normal for a small amount of
oil to appear under the saw after motor
stops. Do not confuse this with a leaking
oil tank.
S Tri gger Switch -- Ensure the t ri gger
switch functions properl y by squeezing
and holding the tri gger swi t ch. Make
sure motor starts and stops.
S Oil Tank -- Discont inue use of chain saw
if oil tank shows si gns of damage or
lea ks.
S Extension Cord -- Discontinue use if
chai n saw extension cord shows si g ns
of damage o r wear.

CHECK CHAIN TENS ION
WARNING: Wear p rotective
gloves when handling chain. The chain
issharpandcancutyouevenwhenitis
not moving.
Chain tensi on is very import ant . Chai n
stretches during use. This is especially
tr ue duri ng the first few times you use your
saw. Always check chain tensi o n each
time you use you r saw .
1. Unplug unit from the power source.
2. Use a screwdriver to move chain
around guide bar to ensure kinks do
not exist. The c hain should rotate
freely .
NOTE: It i s r ecommended that t he saw
be t ur ned upsi de down for chain
tensioning.
3. Loosen bar clamp nuts until they are
finger tight against the bar clamp.
4. Turn the adjusting screw clockwise
until the chain solidly contacts bottom
of guide b ar rai l. Then, t urn adjusting
screw an additional 1/4 turn. This is
correct chain tension set tin g.
Adjusting Screw -- 1/4 Turn
NOTE: To t i ght en the chai n, tur n the ad-
justing screw clockwise; to loosen the
chain, turn the adjusti ng screw counter-
clockwi se .
