Never use waste oil for bar and chain
lubrication.

Always stop the engine before removing
the oil cap.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using e thanol or
methanol)can attractmoisture which l eadsto
separationandformationofacids duringstor-
age. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system
ofanenginewhile instorage. To avoidengine
problems, empt y the fuel system beforestor-
agefor 30 day s or longer. Drain thegas tank,
start t heengineand letit rununtilthe f uellines
andcarburetorare empty. Usefresh fuelnext
season. Never use engine or carburetor
cleanerproductsinthe f ueltank orpermanent
damage may occur.

To stop the engine, move the ON/OFF
switch to the OFF position.

If engine does not stop, move choke lever
to the FULL CHOKE position.

W ARNING:
Make surethe chain will
not make contact with any object while start-
ing t heengine. Nevertryto startthe uni twhen
the guide bar is in a cut. Avoid any contact
with the muf fler. A hot muffler can cause seri-
ous burns.

1. Set unit on a flat surface.
2. Move ON/OFFswitch tothe ONposition.
3. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
4. Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE by
aligning lever with position shown on de-
cal (see illustration below).

5. Squeeze the throttle trigger fully a nd hold
through
all remaining steps.
6. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
gine s oundsasifit i s tryingtostart,butdo
not pull rope more than 6 times.
7. As soonas enginesounds as ifit is trying
to start, move choke lever to HALF
CHOKE by aligning lever with position
shown on decal (see illustration below).

8. Pull starter r ope sharply until engine runs,
but no more than 6 pulls. If the engine
doesn’t sta rt after 6 pulls (at the HALF
CHOKE position), move th e choke lever to
the FUL L CHOKE position and pre ss the
primer bulb 6 times. Squeeze and hold the
throttle trigger and pull the starter r ope 2
mo re time s. Move the choke leve r to t he
HALF CHOKE position and pull the starter
rope u ntil the engine ru ns, but n o more tha n
6 pulls. I f the engine d oesn’t start, repe at
procedure 2 additiona l times.
NOTE:
If engine still doesn’t start, it is
probably flooded. Proceed t o ST AR TING A
FLOODED ENGIN E.
9. Oncetheenginestarts,allowittorun10se-
conds, then move the ch oke leve r to OFF
CHOK E by align ing lever w ith p ositio n
shown o n decal (s ee illustr ation b elow) . Al-
low the unit to run for 30 more seconds at
OFF CHOKE before rele asing the throttle
trig ger .
