S Never use waste oil for bar and chain
lubrication.
S Always stop the engine before removing
the oil cap.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using e thanol or
methanol)canattract moisturewhichleadsto
separationandformationofacids duringstor-
age. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system
ofanengine whileinstorage. Toavoidengine
problems, empty the fuel system before stor-
age for 30days or longer. Drain the gas tank,
startthe engineandlet itrununtilthefuellines
and carburetor areempty. Usefresh fuelnext
season. Never use engine or carburetor
cleanerproductsinthefueltank orpermanent
damage may occur.

HOW TO STOP YOUR UNIT
S To stop the engine, move the ON/OFF
switch to the OFF position.
S If engine does not stop, move choke lever
to the FULL CHOKE position.

WARNING: Make sure the chain will
not make contact with any object while start-
ingthe engine.Never tryto starttheunitwhen
the guide bar is in a cut. Avoid any contact
with the muf fler. A hot muffler can cause seri-
ous burns.

1. Set unit on a flat surface.
2. MoveON/OFFswitch tothe ONposition.
3. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
4. M ove choke lever to FULL CHOKE by
aligning lever with position shown on de-
cal (see illustration below).

5. Squeeze the throttle trigger fully and hold
through al l remaining steps.
6. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
ginesoundsas ifit istryingto start,butdo
not pull rope more than 6 times.
7. As soon asengine sounds as ifit is trying
to start, move choke lever to HALF
CHOKE by aligning lever with position
shown on decal (see illustration below).

8. Pull starter rope sharply until engine r uns,
but no more than 6 pulls. If the engine
doesn’t start after 6 pulls (at the HALF
CHOKE position), move the choke lever to
the FULL CHOKE position and press the
primer bulb 6 times. Squeeze and h old the
throttle trigger and pull the starter rope 2
m ore time s. Move the cho k e lever to th e
HALF CHOKE position and pull the starter
rope until theengine runs, but nomore than
6 pulls. If the engine doesn’t start, repeat
procedure 2 addi tional t imes.
NOTE: If engine still doesn’t start, it is
probably flooded. Proceed to ST ARTING A
FL OODE D ENGI NE.
9. Oncethe enginestarts, allowit torun 10se-
con d s, then mo ve the choke leve r to OFF
CHOKE by align ing le ver with position
shown on decal (see illustrati on below). Al-
low t he unit t o run f or 3 0 more seconds at
OFF CHOKE before releasing the t hrottle
trigger.
NOTE: If engine dies with the
choke lever in the OFF CHOKE position,
mo vethechokeleve rtothe HA L FCHOKE
position and pull the rope until engine runs,
but no m ore than 6 pulls.
