OPERATION
WARNING: Be sure to read the fuel
information inthe safety rules before you be-
gin.If youdo notunderstandthe safety rules,
donotattempttofuelyourunit.C ontactanau-
thorized service dealer.
FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
Thisen gineiscertifiedtooperateonunleaded
petrol.Beforeoperation,petrolmustbemixed
with a good quality 2 -cycle air-cooled engine
oil. We recommend McCulloch brand oil
mixed ata ratioof40:1 (2.5%). A 40:1ratiois
obtained by mixing 5liters of unleaded petr ol
with 0,125 literof oil. DO NOT USE automo -
tiveoilorboatoil.Theseoilswillcauseen gine
damage. When mixing fuel, follow instruc-
tions p rintedonoil container. Onceoilis add-
ed to petrol, shake container m omentarily to
assure that the fuel is thoroughly mixed. Al-
ways readandfollow thesafety rules relating
to fuel before fueling your unit.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended fuels
(called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol)
can attract moisture which leads to separation
and formation of acids during storage. Acidic
gas can damage the fuel system of an engine
while in storage. To avoid engine problems,
empty the fuel system before storage for 30
days or longer . Drain the gas tank, start the en-
gineandlet itrununtilthefuellines andcarbure-
tor are em pty. Use fresh fuel ne xt season. Nev-
er use engine or carburetor cleaner products in
the fuel tank or permanent damage may occur .
HOW TO S TOP YOUR UNIT
S To stop the engine, move the ON/STOP
(I/0) switch to the STOP (0) position.

WARNING: Avoid anycontact withthe
muffler . A hot muffler can cause serious burns.

NOTE: The throttle lock--out is d esigned to
prevent unintentional use of the throttle trig-
ger. The lock--out must be pressed with the
palmofyourhandasyougripthethrottlehan-
dle before the trigger can be u sed. DO NOT
squeeze the throttle trigger until the engine
has started and runs.
1. Set unit on a f lat surface.
2. Move ON/STOP (I/0) switch to the ON (I)
position.
3. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
4. Move the start lever tothe ST ART p osition.
5. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
gine starts and runs.
6. Allow unit to run for 10--15 seconds, then
fully squeeze the throttle trigger to disen-
gage the starting system.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Move ON/STOP (I/0) switch to the ON (I)
position.
2. Pull starter rope sharply until engine
starts and runs.
NOTE:Normally, t he warm starting procedure
can be used within 5 -- 10 minutes after the unit
is turnedoff.Iftheunit sits f or morethan 10min-
utes without being run, it will be necessary to
start the unit by following the steps under
STARTINGACOLDENGINEorfollowingthe
starting instruction steps shown o n t he unit.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Move the start lever to theRUN position and
fully squeeze throttle trigger. Pull the starter
handle repeatedly while squeezing throttle
triggeruntilenginestartsandruns.This could
require pullingthestarter handlemany times,
depending on how badly the unit is f looded.If
the unit still doesn’t start, refer to TROUBLE-
SHOOTING TABLE.
