Idle Speed
Screw --T
Adjust i ng the start thr ot t l e speed
The correct st art throttle speed is set by
means of an adjuster on the rear of the
handle next to the cable. Use this screw (4
mm Allen screw) to increase or decrease
the start throttle speed.
Proceed as follows:
1. Run the machine at idle.
2. Press the start throttle lock as described
under the heading Starting and stopping.
3. If the start throttle speed is too low (below
4000 rpm), tur n adjuster screw (A ) clock-
wise until the cutting attachmen t star ts to
rotate. Then turn adjus ter screw (A)
clockwise an additional 1/2 tur n.
4. If the start throttle speed is too high, turn
adjuster scr ew (A) counterclockwise
until the cutting attachment stops. Then
turn adjuster screw (A) clockwise an
additional 1/2 turn.
Carburetor
Your Jonsered produc t has been designed
and manufactured to specif ications that re-
duce harmful emissions. After the engine
has used 8--10 tanks of fuel, the engine will
be run--in. To ensure that it continues to run
at peak performance and to minimize harm-
ful exhaust emissions after the run--i n peri-
od, ask your servicing dealer to adjust your
carburetor.
The li

f
the machine can be red uced
and the risk of accidents can increase if
machine mainten ance is not car ried out
corr ectly and if service and/or repair s are not
carr ied out professi onally. If yo u need further
information, please cont act yo ur nearest
authorised serv ice dealer .
W ARNING: The complete clutch,
clutch cover , and shaft must be
fitt ed be fore the machine is star ted,
otherwise parts could come loose
and cause personal injury .
Function
S The carburetor governs the engine’s
speed via the throttle control. Air and fuel
are mixed in the car buretor.
S The T--screw regulates the throttle setting
at idle speed. If the T--screw is turned
clockwise this gives a high er idle speed;
turning it countercloc kwise gives a lower
idle speed.
Basic setting
S The basic carburetor sett ings are ad-
justed during testing at the factory. Fine
adjustment should be car ried out by a
skilled technician.
Rec. idle speed:
See “Techn ical data” section.
Recommended max. speed:
See “Techn ical data” section.
CAUTION! If the cutting attachment rotates
when the engine is idling the idle adjust m ent
scr ew T should be turned counter clockw ise
until the cutting attachment stops.
W ARNING: If the idle speed can-
not be adj usted so that the cutt ing
attachme nt sto ps, contact you r
servicing dealer . Do not use the
machine unt il it has been correctly
adjusted or repaired .
Fine adjustment of the idle speed-- T
Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjust-
ment screw--T if it is necessary to readjust .
First, turn the idle adjustment screw--T
clockwise until the cutting attachment starts
to rotate. Then, turn the sc rew counter-
clockwise until the cutti n g attachment stops.
The idle speed is correctly adjusted when
the engine will run smoothly in every posi-
tion. The idle speed should also be well
below the speed at which the cutt ing attach-
ment starts to rotate.
4mm
W ARNING: The cutting attach-
ment may be spinning during carbu-
retor adjustments. W ear your protec-
tive equipme nt and observe all safe-
ty instructions. Be sure the cutting
attachme nt stop s tur ning whe n the
engine idles. When the unit is turned
off, make sure the cutting attach-
ments has stopped before the unit is
set down.
