TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE DRIVE
BELT
Park the tractor on level surface. Engage
parking brake.
1. Remove mower drive belt (See "TO
REPLACE MOWER DRWE BELT" in
thissectionof thismanual),
2. Remove mower (Sou "TO REMOVE
MOWER" in thissectionof this manual).
3. Remove screwsfrom L.H. mandrel
cover and remove cover.
4. Carefullyroll belt off L.H. mandrel
pulley.
5. Remove belt from center mandrel
pulley, idler pulley,and R.H. mandrel
pulley.
6. Remove any dirtor grass whichmay
have accumulated around mandrels
and entireupper deck surface.
7. Check secondary idlerarm and idler
pulleyto see thatthey rotatefreely,
8. Be sure springis hooked in secondary
idler arm and secondary spdng arm.
9. Installnew belt in tower grooveof R,H.
mandrel pulley, idler pulley, and center
mandrel pulley as shown.
10.Carefully roll belt over L.H. mandrel
pulley. Make sure belt isin all grooves
properly.
11,Relestall L.H. mandrel cover.
12. Reinstallmower to tractor (See
=INSTALL MOWER AND DRIVE BELT"
in the Assembly sectionof this manual).
13.Reassemble mower ddve belt (See
"TO REPLACE MOWER DRIVE BELT"
in this sectionofthis manual).

TO ADJUST BRAKE
Your tractor isequippedwith an adjustable
brake system which is mountedon the
side ofthe transaxle.
fftractor requiresmore than six(6) feet
stoppingdistance at high speed in
highest gear on a level dry concrete or
paved surface, then brake must be
adjusted.
1. Depress clutch/brake pedal and
engage parking brake.
2, Measure distance between brake
operating arm and nut "A"on brake
rod.
3, ffdistance is other than 1-1/2", loosen
jam nut and turnnut "A"untildistance
becomes 1-1/2". Retightenjam nut
againstnut =A".
4. Road testtractorforproper stopping
distanceas stated above, Readjust if
necessary, if stoppingdistanceis still
greater than six (6) lout in highest gear,
further maintenance is necessary.
Contact a Sears or other qualified
service center.

TO REPLACE MOTION DRIVE BELT
Park the tractoron level surface. Engage
parking brake. For assistance, there isa
belt installation guide decal on bottom
side of leftfootrest.
1. Remove mower (Sou "TO REMOVE
MOWER" in this section of this
manual.)
2. Disconnect clutch wire harness.
3. Remove clutch ideator.
4. Remove belt from stationaryidler and
clutching idler.
5, Pull belt slack toward rear of tractor.
Remove belt upwardsfrom transaxle
pulley bydeflecting belt keepers.
6. Pull belt toward front of tractor and
remove downwards from around
electric clutch.
7. Install new belt by reversing above
procedure.
