ENGINE

TO ADJUSTTHROTTLE CONTROL
CABLE
The throttlecontrolhasbeenpresetat the
factor/end adjustmentshouldnotbe
necessary Checkadjustmentas described
below before looseningcable. Ifadjustment
isnecessary, proceedas follows:
1. W'_ enginenotrunning,move throttle
controllever from slewto chokepcsi_on.
Slowly move leverfrom choketo fast
position.
2. Check that holes "A" in governor control
lever and hole in govemor plate line-up.
If holes"A" are notaligned, loosenclamp
screw and move throttle cable until holes
are aligned. Tighten clampscrew
securely.

TO ADJUST CARBURETOR
NOTE: The serbureteronthis engine islow
emission.It isequippedwithan idlefuel
adjustingneedle witha limitercap, which
allowssomeadjustment withinthe limits
allowedby the cap. Do notattemptto
removethelimitercap. The limitercap
cannot be removedwithoutbreakingthe
adjustingneedle.
The carburetor has been presetatthe
fectory and adjustmentshouldnot be
necessary. However,minoradjustmentmay
be requiredto compensatefor differencesin
fuel, temperature, altitudeor load. Ifthe
carburetor doesneed adjustment,proceed
asfollows:
In general,temleg idlemixture valvein
(clockwise)decreasesthe supplyof fuel to
the enginegivinga leaner fuel/air mixture.
Tumingthe idlemixturevalve out (counter-
cleckwlse) increasesthe supply offuel to the
enginegivinga dcher tuel/air mixture.
IMPORTANT: Damage to the needlevalve
and the seat in carburetor may result ifscrew
istemad in too tight.
PRELIMINARY SEI-FING-
1. Air deaner assembly must be as-
sembled to the carburetor when making
carburetor adjustments.
2. Be sure thethrottle control cable is
adjusted properly (see above).
FINALSEI-rlNG -
1. Start engine and allow to warm forfive
minutes. Make finaladjustments with
engine runningand shiffJmotJoncontrol
lever in neub'al (N) position.
2. Move throttle controlleverto slow
position. With finger,roteteand hold
throtHe lever against idlespeed screw.
Turn idle speed screw to attain 1750
RPM.
3. While still holding thro_e lever against
idle speed screw, tum idle mixture valve
full travel clockwisethencounterclock-
wise until engineruns rough. Turn valve
toa pointmidwaybetween those two
positions. Releasethrottle lever.
