GAS AND OIL FILL-UP
Oil (Packed with unit)
Only usehigh quality detergent oil ratedwith
API serviceclassification SF, SG orSH. Select
theoil's viscositygradeaccordingtoyour
expectedoperatingtemperature.Followthe
chartbelow.

NOTE: Although multi-viscosity oils (5W30, 10W30,
etc.) improve starting incold weather,these
multiviscosity oilswillresult in increasedoil
consumptionwhen usedabove 32°F. Check theoil
level morefrequently toavoidpossible engine
damage from runninglow onoil.
Fill engine with oil as follows.
Remove oilfill dipstick. See figure 10.
Remove cap
and fill gas

With chipper-shredder on levelground, use a
funnel to fillengine with oil to FULL mark on
dipstick.Capacityis approximately 26 ounces.
Becarefulnottooverfill.
Check oil level.
Add oilifnecessary.Replacedipstick and
tighten.
NOTE: Do not overfill. Oil bottle packed with unit
contains 26 oz. of oil.
Gasoline
WARNING: Experienceindicatesthatalcohol
blended fuels (calledgasohol or using ethanolor
methanol)canattractmoisturewhich leadsto
separationand formationofacidsduringstorage.
Acidicgas can damage thefuelsystemofan engine
whileinstorage. To avoidengineproblems, thefuel
systemshould be emptied before storage for30
daysor longer.Drain thegastank, start theengine
and letit run untilthefuel linesand carburetor are
empty. Use fresh fuel nextseason. See STORAGE
instructionsfor additionalinformation.Never use
engine or carburetor cleanerproducts in thefuel tank
orpermanent damage may occur.
Fillgas tank with gas asfollows.
Remove fuel cap. See figure 10.
Make sure the container (from which you will
pour the gasoline) isclean and free from rust or
foreign particles. Never use gasoline that may
be stale from long periods of storage in the
container.
Fill fuel tank with clean, fresh, lead-free
automotive gasoline. DO NOT use Ethyl or high
octane gasoline. See figure 10.
Replace fuel cap.
WARNING: Do not fill closer than 1/2inchoftopoffuel tank to preventspillsand to
allowfor fuel expansion.Ifgasolineis
accidentlyspilled,movechipper-shredder
away from area ofspill.Avoid creatingany
sourceof ignitionuntilgasolinevaporshave
disappeared.
Check thefuel levelperiodically toavoid running
out of gasoline while operating the chipper-
shredder.
If the unit runs out of gas as it is shredding or
chipping, itmay be necessaryto unclogthe unit
before itcan berestarted.Refer to"Removing
the FlailScreen"instructionsin SERVICE AND
ADJUSTMENT section.
STARTING ENGINE

shredderwhilestartingoroperatingtheunit.
Do not operate thischipper-shredder
unlessthechutedeflectorhasbeenproperly
installedand securedwithhandknobs.
