The four-cycle engineofyourchipper-shredder
willnormallyconsumesomeoil.Therefore, 2.

Stop engineandwait several minutesbefore
checkingoillevel.Withengineon level ground,
the oilmustbe toFULL mark ondipstick.
Change engine oilafterthefirstfivehoursof
operation,and everytwenty-fivehours
thereafter.
To Drain Oil
Drainoilwhileengine iswarm. Followthe
instructionsgivenbelow.
Remove oildrainplug.Catchoilin a suitable
container.
When engine isdrainedofall oil,replacedrain
plugsecurely.
Refillwithfreshoil. Refer toGAS AND OIL
FILL-UP section.
Replace dipstick.
Air Cleaner
The air cleanerprevents damaging dirt, dust,etc.,
from enteringthecarburetorand beingforced into
the engineand isimportanttoengine lifeand
performance.The aircleanerconsistsof a pre-
cleaner orfoam filter,and a paperfilter.
Never run the enginewithoutair cleanercompletely
assembled.
Service pre-cleaner afterevery25 hours of use,
or at leastonce a season.
Servicefilterevery 100 hoursofuse, orat least
once a season.
Service pre-cleanerand filtermoreoftenunder
dustyconditions.
Remove wingnutandcover.
Slidepre-cleanerofffilter.Cleanthe insideof
baseand coverthoroughly.
Clean pre-cleanaras follows:(See figure13.)
a. Wash inwaterand detergentsolution,and
squeeze(donottwist)untilalldirtisramoved.
b. Rinsethoroughlyinclearwater.
c. Wrap ina cleanclothandsqueeze(donot
twist) untilcompletelydry,orallowtoairdry.
d. Saturatewithengineoilandsqueeze(don't
twist) todistributeoilandremoveexcessoil.
