ENGINE MAINTENANCE
Spark Plug
Forgoodperformance,thesparkplugmustbeproperlygappedand
freeofdeposits.Replacethesparkplugannually.
1. Disconnectthecapfromthesparkplug,andremoveanydirtfrom
thesparkplugarea.
2. Usethepropersizesparkplugwrenchtoremovethesparkplug.

3. Checkthegapwitha wiregauge.SeeFigure11.Sparkpluggap
shouldbe0.030in(0.76ram).If necessary,resetthegap.

5. Attachthesparkplugcapto thesparkplug.
Air Cleaner
A dirtyaircleanerwillrestrictairflowto thecarburetorandcausepoor
engineperformance,inspectthefiltereachtimetheengineisoper-
ated.Youwillneedtocleanthefiltermorefrequentlyifyouoperatethe
enginein verydustyareas.
Cleantheaircleanerevery25hoursofoperationoroncea season.
Replacetheaircleanerannually.
Neverstartor runtheenginewiththeaircleanerassemblyortheair
filterremoved.
