engine's muffler. The debriscouldigniteandcausea
fire.
Do notattemptto shredorchipmateriallarger than
specifiedinthismanual. Personal injuryordamage to
the machinecould result.
Donotoperate engine ifaircleaner or cover over
carburetor air-intakeisremoved, exceptfor
adjustment. Removal ofsuchpartscould createa fire
hazard.
Only useaccessoriesapprovedfor thismachinebythe
manufacturer. Read, understand,and follow all
instructionsprovidedwiththe approvedaccessory.
Ifsituationsoccurwhichare notcoveredby this
manual, usecare and goodjudgment. Contactyour

Keepdischargechute deflector,chipperchutedoor,
and all otherguards and safetydevicesin placeand
operatingpropady.
Only operate unitingooddaylight. Do notoperate unit
at nightor indark areas where yourvisionmay be

CHILDREN
Tragic accidentscan occurifthe operatorisnotalerttothe
presence ofsmallchildren. Childrenare oftenattractedto
the chippar-shredderand the chippingand shredding
activity. Never assume thatchildrenwillremainwhere you
lastsaw them.
Keep childrenoutofthe workarea and underthe
watchfuleyeof a responsibleadultotherthan the
operator.
Be alert andturnthe unitoff ifa childentersthe area.
Never allowchildrenunderthe age of16 tooperatethe
chipper-shredder,
SERVICE
Use extremecare in handlinggasolineand otherfuels.
They areextremely flammableandthe vaporsare
explosive.
a. Storefuel andoilinapprovedcontainers,away
from heat andopen flame,and outofthe reachof
children. Check andadd fuel beforestartingthe
engine. Never removegas cap or addfuel while
the engine isrunning. Allow engineto coolat
least twominutesbeforerefueling.
b. Replacogasolinecapsecurelyand wipe offany
spilledgasolinebefore startingthe engine as it
may cause afireorexplosion.
c. Extinguishall cigarettes,cigars,pipesand other
sourcesof ignition.
d. Neverrefuelunitindoorsbecauseflammable
vaporswillaccumulate inthe area.
e. Neverstorethe machineorfuel container inside
where there isan openflame or sparksuchas a
gas hotwater heater, space heater,clothesdryer
orfurnace.
Never runyourmachineinan enclosedarea asthe
exhaustfrom the enginecontains carbon monoxide,
whichisan odorless,tastelessand deadly poisonous
gas.
To reducefirehazard, keep engineand mufflerfree of
leaves,grass,andotherdebrisbuild-up. Clean upfuel
andoilspillage. Allowunittocool at least5minutes
beforestoring.
Beforecleaning,repairing,orinspecting,make certain
the impellerand all movingpartshave stopped.
Disconnectthe sparkplug wire and keepwire away
from sparkplugtoprevent accidentalstarting. Do not
useflammablesolutionsto cleanairfilter.
Checkthe bladeand engine mountingscrews at
frequent intervalsfor propertightness. Alsovisually
inspect bladesfor wear and/ordamage (e.g., bent,
cracked). Replacewithbladeswhichmeet original
equipmentspecifications.
Keep allnuts,bolts,and screwsfight tobesure the
equipmentisin safe workingcondition.
Never tamparwithsafety devices. Checktheir proper
operationregularly.
After strikinga foreign object,immediatelystopthe
engine,disconnectthesparkplugwire from the spark
plug,andthoroughlyinspectthe unitfor anydamage.
Repair damagebeforestartingandoperatingunit.
Do notalter ortamperwiththe engine's governor
setting. The governorcontrolsthe maximumsafe
operatingspeed ofthe engine. Over-speedingthe
engineisdangerousand will causedamage tothe
engineand toother movingpartsofthe machine.

orderbythe operator.
