NOTE:TOprevent theunitfromsliding,place your
footfirmlyagainst thetire.
1. Attach spark
plug wire --

to "on" position

in Fast Position

Attach sparkplug wire and rubber boot to spark
plug. See figure 11.
Place throttle in FAST position. See figure 11.
Move choke lever to CHOKE position (in the
direction ofthe arrow) as shown.
If restarting a warm engineafter ashort
shutdown, movechoke leverto=NoChoke"
position.
Grasp starterhandle and pullropeout slowly
untilengine reaches startofcompressioncycle
(ropewillpullslightlyharderatthispoint).Let
the roperewindslowly.Pullropewitha rapidfull
armstroke.Letropereturntostarterslowly.See
figure 11.
When enginestarts,move chokeleverto half
chokepositionuntilengineruns smoothlyand
then to No Choke position.
If engine fails to start afterthree pulls, move
chokelevertoNo Choke positionand pullstarter
ropeagain.
Ifengine rims,butdoes not continue to run,
movechokeleverto FullChokepositionand pull
ropeagain.
Move choke leverto OFF positionas engine
warms up.
NOTE: A noise will be heard when finding the start of
the compression cycle. This noise is caused by the
flails and fingers which are part oftheshredding
mechanism falling intoplace, and shouldbe
expected./n addition,theflails and fingers will be
noisyaftertheengine isstarted,untiltheimpeller
reaches furlspeed.
STOPPING ENGINE
Movestarterswitch to OFF position.
Disconnect spark plugwire andmoveawayfrom
sparkplugto preventaccidentalstarting.
USING YOUR CHIPPER-SHREDDER
A
WARNING: Do not attempt toshredor
chipanymatedal otherthanvegetation
foundina normalyard(i.e., branches,
leaves,twigs,etc.).
The chipper-shredderisdesigned for two
different methodsofoperation.
a. Leavesand small branchesupto 1/2"
diameter(maximum)can befed intothe
hopperassemblywhen itisin the raisedor
loweredposition.See figure12.
b. Bulkymaterial,such as stalksorheavy
branches,up to3" in diametershouldbe
fed intothe chipperchute.See figure 12.

WARNING: Do not put material larger
than isspecifiedinto the hopper, and/orinto
the chipperchute.Personalinjuryor
damage to themachinecould result.
Ifitbecomesnecessaryto pushmaterialintothe
chipper-shmdder,usea smalldiameterstick-
NOT YOUR HANDS. The stickshouldbesmall
enoughthat itwillbegroundup ifitgetsintothe
impellerassembly.
LOWER THE HOPPER ASSEMBLY
To lowerthe hopper assembly,useone handto
grasp the hand-hold at thetop of thehopper
assemblyand liftslightly.See figure 5.
Pullup onthe release bar,and lowerthehopper
assemblytothe ground.Release the bar.See
figure 5.

WARNING: Never remove chute deflector
tillthe unit has completely stopped.Never
shut offthe engine until all chipping is
completed.
Forbest performance, it isimportant tokeep the
shreddingblade and the chipper blades sharp.Ifthe
