Temperatureof mufflerandnearbyareas mayexceed150°F (65°C).
Avoidtheseareas.
Inspectmufflerevery50 hours,andreplaceif necessary.
Replacementpartsfor themufflermustbethe sameandinstalled
inthe samepositionas theoriginalparts.
Clean Engine
Dailyor beforeeveryuse,cleangrass,chaffor accumulated
debrisfromengine.Keeplinkage,spring,andcontrolsclean.
Keepareaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeofany combustible
debris.
Keepingenginecleanallowsairmovementaroundengine.
Enginepartsshouldbe keptcleanto reducetheriskof overheat-
ingandignitionofaccumulateddebris.

Do notusewaterto cleanengineparts.Watercouldcontaminatefuel
system.Usea brushor drycloth.
Carburetor Adjustment
Thecarburetoronthis engineisnotadjustable.
Do not,attemptto altertheenginespeedby tamperingwiththe
engines governorlinkage.Doingsocould resultin seriouspersonal
I injuryanddamageto theengine.The engineRPMhasbeensetat
thefactory.
Engine Speed
LUBRICATION
HopperAssembly-Lubricatethe pivotpointson thehopper
assemblywithlight oiloncea season.
DischargeChute- Lubricatethe pivotpointsonthe discharge
chutewithlight oilonce a season.
ReleaseRod- Lubricatethe releaserodand springwith lightoil
oncea season.
CLEAN EQUIPMENT
Cleanthechippershredderthoroughlyaftereachuse.
Washbagperiodicallywithwater.Allowto drythoroughlyin
shade.
Ifthe flail screenbecomesclogged,removeandcleanas
instructedbelow.
NOTE:Cleaningwitha forcefulsprayof wateris notrecommendedas
it couldcontaminatethefuelsystem.

Beforeperformingany typeof maintenanceonthe machine,waitfor
all partsto stopmovinganddisconnectthe sparkplugwire.Failure
to followthis instructioncouldresultin personalinjuryor property
damage.
REMOVING THE FLAIL SCREEN
Ifthe dischargeareabecomesclogged,removethe flail screenand
cleanareaas follows:
1. Stopthe engine.Makecertainthe chippershredderhascometo
a completestop.
2. Disconnectsparkplugwirefromsparkplugandgroundagainst
the engine.
3. A. Removethe bagandtwowingknobsoneach sideofthechute
deflector.SeeFigure14.
B. Liftthe chutedeflectorupto keepitoutof the way.
C.Removethetwo hairpinclipsfromeach clevispinwhich
extendthroughthe housingand removepins.
D.Removethe flail screenfrominsidethe housingandcleanthe
screenby scrapingor washingwith water.SeeFigure14.
4. Reinstallthe screen,makingcertainto reassemblethe flailscreen
withthe curvesidedown.
5. Reattachthechutedeflectorwiththe hardwarepreviouslyremoved
andconnectthebagto unit.
SHARPENING OR REPLACING CHIPPER
BLADES
1. Disconnectthe sparkplugwireandgroundagainstthe engine.
2. Removethe flailscreenas instructedinthe previoussection.
3. Removethe chipperchuteby removingthreehexnutsand
washers.
