TheabilityoftheMPmodemtoobtainserviceandthetypeof
serviceobtainedinanyareaisdeterminedbyseveralfactors:
Network proximity and 1xEV-DO CDMA availability To
obtainservice,youmustbewithinthecoverageareaofa
networkoperatinginoneoftheradiofrequencybands
supportedbytheMPmodem.Thetypeofconnectiondepends
ontheserviceavailableinthatarea.Forexample,thereare
areaswith1xserviceinwhich1xEV‐DOhas
notyetbeen
implemented.
Roaming Ifyouarewithinthecoverageofanetwork
operatedbyadifferentserviceprovider,yourabilitytoobtain
servicedependsonwhetheraroamingagreementexists
betweenyourserviceproviderandtheoneoperatingyour
currentlocalnetwork.Theremaybeadditionalfeesfor
roamingservice.Contactyourreselleror
serviceproviderfor
information.
Account provisions Youraccount mayrestrictusageof
certainnetworksormaylimityourconnectiontimeordata
transmission.
Supported CDMA radio frequencies
CDMAnetworksoperateontwosetsofradiofrequency
bands.TheMP
595modemisadual‐bandproductthat
operatesonbothbands:
• 1900MHz(alsocalledthePCS,orPersonalCommunica‐
tionsServices,band)
• 800MHz(Cellularband)
Receive diversity
TheMP595modemsupportsreceivediversityforimproved
signalreception.Receivediversityusestwoantennasto
enhancethequalityofthesignal,butdoesnotextendtheMP
modem’scoveragearea.
Connection methods
YoucanconnecttheMPmodemtoaUSB,Et hernet(RJ45),or
serial(DB9)portonacomputer.WhenconnectedtoaUSBor
Ethernetport,theMPmodembehaveslikeanetworkcard.
Whenconnectedtoaserialport,theMPmodembehaveslikea
dial‐upmodem.
