CORRECT OPERATING POSITION
When operating unit, stand as shown a nd
check for the following:
S W ear eye protection and heavy clothing.
S Grip rear handle with right hand and front
handle with left hand .
S Keep unit below waist level.
STOPPING YOUR UNIT
To stopthe unit,releasethe triggerswitch,al-
low bladestostop,then movethehedgetrim-
mer away from the cutting area.
STARTING YOUR UNIT
1. Connect the unit to a power source using
the proper size extension cord (see S E-
LECT AN EXTENSION CORD).
2. Grip front and rear handles firmly.
3. Push the trigger lock--out button forward
with your right hand thumb.
4. Squeeze and hold the trigger switch.
OPERATING THE UNIT
S Read important safety instructions before
operating.
S Do not cut stems greater than 3/8 inch (1
cm) thick.
S During operation, keep extension cord be-
hind the trimmer; never drape over hedge
being trimmed.
Top C utting
Use a wide sweeping motion for top cutting. A
slight downward tilt of the cutting blades in the
directionof m ot iongives th ebest cuttin gresults.
Side Cutting
When tr immingthesides ofa hedge,begin at
the bottom and cut upwards.

Contact an authorized service dealer for re-
placement of dam aged or worn parts.
S Trigger Switch -- Ensure switch functions
properly by pressing andreleasing thetrig-
ger switch. Make sure motor stops.
S Pigtailplugandextensioncord -- Discontin-
ue use of unit if pigtailcord becomes dam-
aged. Have damaged cords replaced by
your authorized service dealer.
AFTER EACH USE
INSPECT AND CLEAN UNIT AND
LABELS
S After each use, inspect complete unit for
loose or damaged parts. Clean the unit us-
ing a damp cloth with a mild detergent.
