WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR W ARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGA-
TIONS: The U. S. Environmental Pr otection
Agency and POULAN/WEED EATER, DIVI-
SION OF WCI OUTDOOR PRODUCTS are
pleased t oexplain t heemissions cont rolsystem
war ranty on your lawn and garden equipment
engine. All new utility and lawn and garden
equipment engi nesmust bedesigned, built, and
equipped to meet the stringent anti--smog s tan-
dards. POUL AN/WEED EATER must warrant
the emission control system on your law n and
gardenequipment engineforthe periods oftime
listed below provided ther e hasbeen no abuse,
neglect, or improper maintenance of your lawn
and garden equipment engine. Your emission
control system includes parts such as the car-
buretor and the ignition system. Where a w ar-
rantable condition exits, POU L AN/WEEDEA T-
ER w ill repair your law n and garden equipment
engine atno costto you.Expenses cover edun-
derwarrantyinclude di agnosis, partsand labor.
MANUFACTURER’S W ARRANTY COVER-
AGE: If any emissions related part on your en-
gine (aslisted underEmissions C ontr olWar r an-
ty P artsList)is defective oradefect in t hemate-
rials or w or kmanship of the engine causes the
failure of such anemission r elated par t, the par t
will berepair edor replacedbyPOULAN/WEED
EATER. OWNER’S WARRANTY RESPO N-
SIBILITIES:As t helawn andgardenequipment
engine owner, you ar e r esponsible for the per-
formance of the required maintenance listed in
your Ow ner’ s Manual. PO ULAN/WEED EAT-
ERrecom mendsthatyouretain all receiptscov-
ering m aintenance o n your lawn and gar den
equipment engine, but POULAN /W EED EAT-
ER cannot deny warranty solely for the lack o f
receipts or f or your failure to ensure the perfor-
mance of all scheduled maintenance. As the
lawn and garden equipment engine ow ner, you
should be aware that POULAN/WEEDEA TER
may deny you w ar r anty coverage if your lawn
and gar den equi pment engi ne ora part o f it has
failed due to abuse, neglect, improper m ainte-
nance, unapproved modifications, or the use of
parts not made or approved by the original
equipment manufacturer. You ar e r esponsible
for pr esenting y our law n and gar den equi pm ent
engine to a POU L AN/WEED EATER autho-
rized r epair center assoon asa problemexists.
War r anty repair s should be com pleted in a r ea-
sonable amount of t ime, not to exceed30 days.

MENCEMENT DA TE: The war ranty period be-

engine is pur chased. LEN G TH OF CO VER-
AGE: This warr anty shall be for a period of tw o
years from the initial date o f purchase. WHAT
IS CO VERED: REPAIR OR REPLA CEM ENT
OF P ARTS. Repair or r eplacement of any war-
ranted part w ill beperfor medat no charge t othe
owner at an appr oved POULAN/WEED EAT-
ER servicing c enter. If you have any questions

at 1--800--554--6723 WARRANTY PERIOD:
Any warr anted par t which is not scheduled for
replacement asr equiredmaintenance, orwhich
isscheduledonlyforregular inspectionto theef-
fect of “repair or replace as necessary” s hall be
warr antedfor2years. A nywar r anted part which
is scheduled for replacement as r equir ed m ain-
tenance s hallbe w ar r antedfor t heper iodof t ime
up to the first scheduled replacement point for
that part. DIAGNOSIS: The ow ner shal l not be
charged for diagnostic labor which leads to the
determination that a w ar ranted part is defective
if t he diagnostic work is perform ed at an ap-
provedPOULAN/WEEDEA TERservicin gce n-
ter. CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES: POU-
LAN /WEEDEATER may beliable fordamages
to other engine com ponents caused by the f ail-
ure of a warranted part still under w ar r anty.
WH AT IS NOT C OVER ED: All failur e s ca u s ed
by abuse,neglect, orimpropermaintenanceare
not covered. ADD--ON OR MODIFIED
P ARTS: The use of add--on or modified parts
canbe g r oundsfordisallowinga war r antyclaim.
POULAN/WEED EA TER is not liable to cover
failures of w ar r anted par tscaused by t he u seof
add--on or modified par ts. HOW TO FILE A
CLAIM: If you have any questions regarding
your w ar r anty r ights and responsibilities, you
should contact y our near est authorized service
center or call POULAN/WEED EATER at
1--800--554--6723. WHERE TO GET WAR-
RANTY SERVICE: Warr anty s er vices or re-
pairs shall be provided at all POU L AN/WEED

MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT AND RE-
PAIR OF EMISSIO N R ELATED PARTS:Any
POULAN/WEED EATER approved replace-
ment par t used in the per form ance of any w ar-
ranty maintenanceor repairon emission related
parts willbe providedwithout chargeto t heow n-
er if the part is under war r anty. EMISSION
CONTROL W ARRANTY P ARTS LIST: Ca r-
buretor, Ignition System: Spark Plug (covered
up to maintenance schedule), Ignition Module.
MAINTENANCE ST ATEMENT: The owner is
responsible for the perform ance of all required
maintenance as defined in the owner’s m anual.
