SAFETY RULES

KNOW YOUR UNIT

Read your instruction manual car efully until
you completely under stand and can follow all
war nings and safety r ules before oper ating
the unit.

Restrict unit to users who understand and will
follow all war n in g s an d safety ru le s in this
manual.
WARNING:
Inspect area befor e start-
ing unit. Remove all debris and hard objects
such as r ocks, glass, wir e, etc. that can rico-
chet, be thrown, or otherwise cause injury or
damage during oper ation.
Use your unit as a blower for:
D
Sweeping debris or grass clippings from
driveways, sidewalks, patios, etc.
D
Blowing grass clippings, straw, or leaves into
piles, around joints, or between bricks.
Use your unit as a vacuum for:
D
Picking up dry m aterial such as leaves, grass,
small tw igs, and bits of paper.
D
For best results during vacuum use, operate
your unit at high speed.
D
Move slowly back and forth over the material
as you vacuum. Avoid forcing the unit into a
pile of debris as this can clog the unit.
D
Keep the vacuum tube about an inch above
the gr ound for best results.
PLAN AHEAD
D
Always wear eye protection w hen operating,
servicing, or performing maintenance on unit.
Wear ing e ye pr otection will help to pr event
rocks or debr is from being blow n or ricochet-
ing into eyes and fac e w h ic h can result in
blindness and/or serious injury. Eye protec-
tion should be mar ked Z87.1.

Always w ear foot protection. Do not go bar e-
foot or wear sandals.
D
Always wear respirator or face mask when
work ing with unit in dusty environments.
D
Secure hair above s houlder length. Secure or
remove jew elr y, loose clothing, or cl othing
with loosely hangi ng straps, ties, tassels, etc.
They can be caught in m oving parts.
D
Do not operate unit when you ar e tired, ill, up-
set, or if you are under the influence of alco-
hol, dr ugs, or medication.
D
Keep children, bystanders, and animals away
from work area a minimum of 30 feet ( 10 me-
ters) when starting or operating unit. Do not
point the blower nozzle i n the direction o f
people or pets.
HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION, IT IS
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE

Eliminate all sources of sparks or flame (in-
cluding sm oking, open flames, or w ork that
can c ause spar ks) in the areas w her e fuel is
mixed, pour ed, or stor ed.
D
Mix and pour fuel in an outdoor area; store
fuel i n a cool, dr y, w ell ventilated place; use an
approved, marked container for all fuel pur-
poses.
D
Do not smoke w hile handling fuel or w hile op-
erating the unit.
D
Make sure the unit is properly assembled and
in good operating c ondition.
D
Do not fill fuel tank while engine is running.
D
Av oid s pilling fuel or oil. Wipe up fu el spills be-
fore starting engine.
D
Move at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from
fuel and fueling site befor e starting engine.
D
Always store gasoline in a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.
OPERATE YOUR UNIT SAFELY
WARNING:
Stop the engine before
opening the vacuum inlet door. The engine
must be stopped and the impeller blades no
longer turning to avoid serious injury from the
rotating blades.

Inspect unit before each use for wor n, loose,
missing, or damaged par ts. Do not use until
unit is in proper w ork ing order.
D
Keep outside surfaces free of oil and fuel.
D
Never s tar t or run engine inside a closed
room, building or o ther unventilated ar ea.
Breathing exhaust fumes can kill.
D
To avoid static electricity shock, do not wear
rubber gloves or any other insulated gloves
while operating unit.
D
Do not set unit on any sur face except a clean,
hard area while engine i s running. D ebr is
such as gravel, sand, dust, grass, etc. could
be picked up by the air i ntake and thr ow n out
through di schar ge opening, damaging unit,
property, or causing serious injury to bystand-
ers or operator.

Avoid dangerous envir onm ents. Do not use in
unventilated areas or where explosive vapors
or carbon m onoxide build up could be pr e-
sent.
D
Do not overreach or use from unstable sur-
faces such as ladders, trees, steep slopes,
rooftops, etc. K eep firm footing and balance at
all times.
D
Never place objects inside the blower tubes;
always direct the blowing debris away from
people, ani mals, glass, and solid objects such
as tr ees, autom obiles, w alls, etc. The force of
air can cause rocks, di rt, or sticks to be
thrown or to ricochet which can hur t people or
animals, break glass, or cause other damage.

Never run unit without the proper equip-
ment attached. When using your unit as a
blower, always install blower tubes. When
using your unit as a vacuum, always install
vacuum tubes and vacuum bag assembly.
Make sure vacuum bag assembly is com-
pletely zipped.
D
Check air intake opening, blower tubes,
vacuum tubes, and elbow tube frequently,
always with engine stopped and spark plug
disconnected. Keep v ents and discharge
tubes free of debris which can accumulate
and restrict proper air flow.
