Adjusting Mowing Height
The mowing height is adjusted by adjusting the top link of the 3-point linkage to move the forward portion of the
disc up or down. (See Figure 11.)
IMPORTANT: Do not allow the disc blade to contact the ground.
On uneven ground, raise the blade tip by tilting the cutter rearward. Tipping the cutter too far rearward, over
horizontal will result in premature blade wear. Cutting too close to the ground will cause excessive blade wear.
Safety Break Away Adjustment
When the mower meets an obstacle during operation, the break away latch will release and allow the mower to
swing back in order to minimize damage. The break away can be adjusted to release at higher or lower forces
by changing the compression on the Break Away Spring (T). (See Figures 12 &13.)
NOTE: The compression spring should not be compressed to less than 2 15/16"! Apply grease to the break
away sliding section after every 8 hours of operation.
IMPORTANT: If the break away trips, STOP THE TRACTOR AND SHUT OFF THE PTO DRIVE AND ENGINE
SECURE PARKING BREAK ! WAIT FOR ALL ROTATION TO STOP! Then inspect the cutter bar for damage
and remove the obstacle. Reverse tractor direction until the break away resets. Engage the PTO drive and
continue forward.
NEVER REMOVE OBSTRUCTIONS WHILE THE DISC IS ROTATING, EVEN AT SLOW
SPEEDS. DISENGAGE THE PTO, STOP THE TRACTOR ENGINE, WAIT FOR ALL
ROTATING PARTS TO STOP AND ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE BEFORE LEAVING THE
TRACTOR SEAT. NEVER ALLOW ANYONE ON THE TRACTOR WHILE YOU REMOVE
OBSTRUCTIONS!
NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO APPROACH THE MOWER WHILE DISCS ARE ROTATING.
SERIOUS INJURY CAN BE CAUSED BY ROTATING PARTS.
