STARTING A COLD ENGINE
NOTE:
The thr ottle lock--out is designed to
prevent unint entional use of the throttle trig-
ger. The lock--out must be pressed with the
palm ofyour handas yougrip thethrottle han-
dle befor e the trigger can be used.
1. Set unit on a flat su rface.
2. Move ON/STOP swi tch to the ON p osition.
3. Move choke lever to the FULL CHOKE
positi on
.
4. Slowly press t he primer bulb 1 0 times.

5. Squeeze th e throttl e tri gger fully and hold
through all remaining steps.
6. Pull starter rope handlesh arply until eng ine
starts (or sounds as if it is trying to start),
but do not pull r ope more than 10 tim es.
7. M ove choke lever to HALF CHOKE posi-
tion
.
8. Pull st arter rope sharply until engine starts,
but no more than 10 pulls. Allow the engine
to run f or 30--45 se conds.
NOTE: If th e engin e doesn’t start after
10 pul ls ( at the H ALF C HOKE position
), move thechokelever totheFULL
CHO KE position
and press the
primerbulb 6times. Squeeze andhold
the throttle trigger and pull the st arter
rope 2 m ore times. Move the choke l e-
ver to the HALF CHOKE posit ion
and pull the starter rope until the en-
gine runs, but nomore than10 pulls. If
the engine still doesn’t start, it is prob-
ably flooded. Proceed to STARTING
A FLOODED ENGINE.
9. Once the engine starts and has ran for
10--15 seconds at the HALF CHOKE
position
, move the choke lever t o the
RUN position
. Allow the unitto run for
30 seconds before releasing the throttle
trigger.
NOTE: If engine dies with the choke
lever intheRUNposition
, movethe
choke lever to the HALF CHOKE
position
and pull the rope until en-
gine runs, but no more than 6 pulls.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Set unit on a flat surface.
2. M ove ON/STOP switch to the O N position.
3. Mo vethe c h o keleverto t h e HAL F CHOK E

4. Squeeze and hold the t hrottle trigger.
5. Pull starte r rope sh arply until engine runs,
but no m ore than 10 pulls.
6. Allow engine to r un 30 second s, thenmove
the choke lever to the RUN posi tion

NOTE: If engine has not started, pull sta rter
rope 5more pulls.If enginest illdoes notrun,it
is probably flooded.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Flooded engines ca n b e sta rted by placing t he
choke lever in th e RUN position
; then, pull
the rope t o clear t he engine of e xce ss fuel. This
could requ ire pulling th e start er handle many
times depend ing on how badly the unit is
