PLAN AHEAD
W ARNING:
Inspect area before start-
ing u nit. Remove all d ebris and hard objects
su ch a s ro cks, g la ss , wire, etc. that can r ico-
chet, be thrown, or otherwise cause injury or
damage during operation.

Always wear eye protection when o perating,
servicing, o r pe rforming m aintenance on unit .
Wearing eye protection will help to prevent
brush o rdebris fr ombeingthrown orricochet-
ing into eye s a nd face w hich c an resu lt in
blindness and/or serious injury. Eye protec-
tion should be marked Z87.

Wear hearing protection when using this
unit.

Secure hairaboveshoulder length.Secure
or remove jewelry, loose clothing, or cloth-
ing with loosely hanging straps, ties, tas-
sels, etc. They can be caught in moving
parts.

Stay alert. Do not operate un it when you a re
tired,ill,upse t ,orifyouar eun dertheinfluence
of alcohol, drugs, or medication.

Keep children, by standers, and animals
away from w orkareaa minimum of 30 feet
(10meters)whenstartingoroperatingunit.
HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION

Eliminate all sources ofsparksor fl ame(in-
cluding smoking, openflames, o rwork that
cancauses parks)intheareaswherefuelis
mixed, poured,or stored.

Mix andpour fuel in anoutdoor area;store
fuel in acool,dry,well ventilatedplace; use
an approved, marked container for all fuel
purposes.
D
Do not smoke while handling fuel or while
operating the unit.
D
Do notfill fuel tank while engine is running.
D
Make sure the unit is properly assembled
and in good oper atingcondition.
D
Avoid spilling fuel oroil. Wipe upfuelspills
before starting the engine.

Moveatleast 10feet (3meters)awayfrom
fuel and fueling site before starting engine.

Always store gasoline in a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.
OPERATE YOUR UNIT SAFELY
DANGER:

HANDS AWAY FROM BLADE
--Blade
moves momentarily after the trigger is re-
leased. Donot attemptto clear away cut m a-
terial whenthe blade is in motion. Make sure
the switch is in the OFF position, the spark
plug wire is disconnected, andthe blade has
stopped m oving before removing j ammed
materialfromthecuttingblade.Donotgrabor
hold the unit by the cutting blade.

Inspect unit before each use for worn,
loose, missing, or damaged parts. Do not
use until unit is in proper working order.

Keep outside surfaces free from oil and
fuel.

Never start or run engine inside a closed
room or building. Breathing exhaust fumes
can kill.

in unventilated areas or where explosive
vapors or carbon monoxide build up could
be present.

MAINTAIN YOUR UNIT PROPERLY

Have all maintenance other than the rec-
ommendedproceduresdescribedin thein-
struction manual performed by an autho-
rized service dealer.

Disconnect spark plug before performing
maintenance except for carburetor adjust-
ments.

Do not use a cutting blade that i s bent,
warped, cracked, broken, or damaged in
any other way. Have worn or damaged
parts replaced by an authorized s ervice
dealer.

Empty fue l tank before storing the unit. Use
upfuelleftincarburetor bystarting engineand

andthemufflerandcuttingbladeawayfrom
your body.

Allow engine to cool, empty the fuel tank,
and secure theunit beforestoring ortrans-
porting it in a vehicle.
