TRIMMER LINE ADVANCE
The cutting head advances line automati-
cally. Donottapheadonthegroundtoad-
vance line. This may b reakparts andcause
cutting head to malfunction.
Upon uni t start up, the line will advance auto-
maticall y to the correct cutting path l engt h.
Always keeptheshieldin placewhen thetool
is being operated.
WARNING: Use only 0.08 0 inch (2
mm) diameter round line. Other sizes and
shapes of linewill notadvance properly and will
result in improp er cutting head function or can
cause serious injury.Do notuse othermaterials
such as wire, string, rope, etc. Wire can break
offduring cutting andbecomea dangerous mis-
sile that can cause serious injury .
CUTTING MET HODS
WARNING: Use minimum speed
anddonotcrowdthelinewhencuttingaround
hard objects (rock, gravel, fenceposts,etc.),
whichcandamagethetrimmerhead,become
entangled in the line, or be thrown causing a
serious hazard.

S The line will easily remove grass and
weedsfromaroundwalls,fences,treesand
flower beds, but it also can cut the tender
bark oftrees orshrubs andscar fences.To
help avoid damage especially to delicate
vegetation or trees with tender bark,
shorten line to 4--5 inches (10--13 cm) a nd
use at less than full throttle.
S For trimming or scalping, use less thanfull
throttle to increase line life and decrease
head wear , especially:
S During light duty cutting.
S Near objects around which the line c an
wrap such as small posts, t rees or fe nce
wire .
S Formowingorsweeping,usefullthrottlefor
a good clean job.
TRIMMING -- H old the bottom of t he trimm er
head about 3 inches (8 cm) above the ground
and at an angle. Allow only th e tip of the line to
make contact. Do not force trimmer line into
work area.

SCALPING -- The scalping technique re-
moves unwanted vegetation down to the
ground. Hold the bottom o f the trimmer head
about 3 inches (8 cm) above the ground and
atanangle.Allowthetipofthelinetostrikethe
groundaroundtrees,posts,monuments,etc.
This technique increases line wear.

MOWING -- Your trimm er is ideal for mowing
in places conventional lawn mowers cannot
reach. In the mowing position, keep the line
parallel to the ground. Avoid pressing the
head into the ground as this can scalp the
ground and damage the tool.

SWEEPING-- Thefanningactionof therotat-
ing line can be used for a quick and easy
clean up. Keep the line parallel to andabove
the surfaces being swept and move the tool
from side to side.
