or negligence. To receive full value from the
warranty, the operator must m aintain unit as
instructed in this manual. Various adjust-
ments will need to be made p eriodically to
properly maintain your unit.

Contact an authorized service dealer for re-
placement of damaged or worn parts.

STOP position. Make sure engine stops;then
restart engine and continue.
S Fuel Tank -- Do not use unit if fuel tank shows
signs of damage or leaks.
INSPECT AND CLEAN UNIT AND
DECALS
S After each use, inspect complete unit for
loose ordamaged parts. Cleanthe unitand
decals usinga dampcloth with amilddeter-
gent.
S Wipe off unit with a clean dry cloth.

Cleaning the air filter:
A dirty air filter decreases engine perform-
ance and increases fuel consumption and
harmful emissions. Always clean or replace
air filter after every 20 hours of operation or
yearly, whichever comes first.
NOTE: To avoid dam age, do not wash the
paper air filter withwater. Do not usepressur-
ized air to clean or dry the air filter. Always re-
place a damaged air filter.
1. Clean the cover and the area around it to
keep debris from falling into the carbure-
tor chamber when the cover is removed.
2. Remove parts as illustrated.
3. Clean the air filter by gently tapping to re-
move dust and debris.
4. Replace parts.

ARRESTING SCREEN
WARNING: The muffler on this prod-
uct contains chemicals known to the State of
California to cause cancer .
WARNING: Avoid touching muffler
unless engine and muffler are cold. A hot
muffler can cause serious burns.
As the unit is used, carbon deposits build up
on the muffler and spark arresting screen,
and must be removed to avoid creating a fire
hazard o r affecting engine performance.
Replace the spark arresting screen every 50
hours of operation or if any damage or breaks in
the screen are noted.
NOTE: Do not attempt to clean the spark ar-
resting screen.
1. Loosen and remove two screws from the
heat shield. Remove the heat shield.
2. Loosen a nd remove both muffler screws
and the muffler from the unit.

3. Remove the spark a rresting screen.

4. Install new spark arresting screen.
5. Reinstall muffler andboth mufflerscrews.
Tighten screws securely.
6. Reinstall heat shield and two screws.
Tighten screws securely.
NOTE: If any part of the muf fler is cracked,
broken or damaged, we recommend that the
muffler be replaced.
