HOW TO START YOUR UNIT
WARNING: Avoid any contact with

1. Set unit on a f lat surface.
2. MoveON/OFFswitch tothe ON position.
3. Slowly press the primer b ulb 6 times.
4. Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE by
aligning lever with position shown on de-
cal (see illustration below).

5. Squeeze the throttle trigger fully and hold
through all remaining steps.
6. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
ginesounds asif itis trying tostart, butdo
not pull rope more than 6 times.
7. As soon as enginesounds as ifit is trying
to start, move choke lever to HALF
CHOKE by aligning lever with position
shown on decal (see illustration below).

8. Pull starter rope sharply u ntil engine runs,
but no more than 6 pulls. If the engine
doesn’t start after 6 pulls (at the HALF
CHOKE position), move the choke lever to
the FULL CHOKE position and press the
primer bulb 6 times. Squeeze and hold the
throttle trigger and pull the starter rope 2
m ore times. Mo ve th e chok e le ver to th e
HALF CHOKE position and pull the starter
rope until the engineruns, but no more th an
6 pulls. If the engine doesn’t start, repeat
procedure 2 additional times.
NOTE: If engine still doesn’t start, it is
probably flooded. Proceed to ST ARTING A
FL OODE D E NGI NE.
9. Once theengine starts, a llow it t orun 10se-
con d s, then mo ve the cho ke leve r to OFF
CHOKE by align ing le ver with p osition
shown on decal (see illustrati on below). Al-
low the unit to run for 3 0 more seconds at
OFF CHOKE before releasing the throttle
trigger.
NOTE: If engine dies with t he
choke lever in the OFF CHOKE position,
mo vethechokeleve rto theHALF C H OKE
position and pull the rope until engine runs,
but no more than 6 pulls.

STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. MoveON/OFF switch tothe ON position.
2. Move the choke lever to the HALF
CHOKE position.
3. Squeeze and hold the throttle trigger.
Keep throttle trigger fully squeezed until
the engine runs smoothly.
4. Pullstarter r opesharply untilengineruns,
but no more than 5 pulls.
5. Allow engine to run 15 seconds, then
movethe chokelever totheOFFCHOKE
position.
NOTE: If engine has not started, pull starter
rope 5more pulls.Ifenginestill doesnotrun,it
is probably flooded.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Flooded engines can be started by placing
the choke lever in the OFF CHOKE position;
then, pull the rope to clear the engine of ex-
cess fuel.This couldrequirepullingthestarter
handle many times depending on how badly
the unit is flooded.
