7. Place chain over and behind clutch re-
tainer, fitting the drive links in the clutch
drum sprocket.
8. Fit bottom of drive links between the
teeth in the sprocket in the nose of the
guide bar .
9. Fit chain drive links into bar groove.
10. Pullguidebarforwarduntilchainis snug
in guide bar groove. Ensure all drive
links are in the bar groove.
11. Now, install clutch cover making sure
theadjusting pinis positionedin thelow-
er holein theguide bar. Rememberthis
pin moves the bar forward and back-
ward as the screw is turned.

12. Install bar nuts and finger tighten only .
Once the chain is tensioned, you will
need to tighten bar nuts.

(Including units with chain already installed)
WARNING: Wearprotectivegloves
whenhandlingchain. Thechainissharpand
can cut you even when it is not moving.
NOTE: When adjusting chain tension,
make sure the chain brake nuts a re finger
tight only . Attempting to tension the chain
when the chain brake nuts are tight can
cause damage.
Checking the tension:
Usethe screwdriver endof thechainadjust-
ment tool (bar tool) to move chain around
guidebar.Ifthechaindoesnotrotate,itistoo
tight. Ifthechainistooloose,itwillsagbelow
the bar .

Adjusting the tension:
Chain tension is very im portant. Chains
stretch during use. This is especially true
during the first few times you use your saw .
Always check chain tension each time you
use and refuel your saw.
1. Loosenbarnutsuntiltheyarefingertight
against the clutch cover.
2. Turn adjusting screw clockwise until chain
solidly contacts bottom of guide bar rail.

3. Using bar tool, roll chain around guide bar
to ensure all links are in bar groove.
4. Lift up tip of guide bar to check f or sag.
Release tip of guide bar, then turn ad-
justingscrew

turnclockwise. Repeat
until sag does not exist.

5. While lifting tip of guide bar , tighten bar
nuts securely with the bar tool.

6. Use t he screwdriver end of the bar tool
to move chain around guide bar .
7. If chain does not rotate, it is too tight.
Slightly loosen bar nuts and loosen
chain by turning the adjusting screw

turn counterclockwise. Retighten bar
nuts.
8. If chain is too loose,it will sag belowthe
guide bar . DO NOT operate the saw i f
the chain is loose.
WARNING: If the saw is operated
with a loose chain, the chain could jump off
the guide bar and result in serious injury.
