WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGA-
TIONS: The U. S. Environmental Protection
Agency and POULAN/WEED EA TER, DIVI-
SION OF WCI OUTDOOR PRODUCTS are
pleased to explain the emissions control system
war ranty on your lawn and garden equipment
engine. All new utility and lawn and gar den
equipment engines must be designed, built, and
equipped to meet the stringent anti--smog stan-
dards. POULAN/WEED EATER must w arr ant
the emission control system on your lawn and
garden equipment engine for the periods of time
listed below provided there has been no abuse,
neglect, or improper maintenance of your lawn
and garden equipment engine. Your em ission
control system includes parts such as the car-
buretor and the ignition system. Wher e a war-
rantable condition exits, POULAN/WEED EA T-
ER will r epair your lawn and garden equipment
engine at no cost to you. Expenses covered un-
der war r anty include diagnosis, parts and labor.
MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY COVER-
AGE: If any emissions related part on y our en-
gine (as listed under Emissions Control Warr an-
ty Parts List) is defective or a defect in the
materials or workmanship of the engine causes
the failure of such an emission related part, the
part will be repaired or r eplaced by POULAN/
WEED EATER. OWNER’S WARRANTY R E-
SPONSIBILITIES: As the lawn and gar den
equipment engine owner, you ar e responsible
for the performance of the r equir ed mainte-
nance listed i n your instruction manual. POU-
LAN /WEED EATER recomm ends that you r e-
tain all r eceipts covering maintenance o n your
lawn and garden equipment engine, but POU-
LAN /WEED EATER cannot deny warranty
solely fo r t h e lack of receiptsor foryou rfailureto
ensure the performance of all scheduled main-
tenance. As the lawn and garden equipment
engine owner, you should be aw ar e that POU-
LAN /WEED EATER m ay deny you warr anty
coverage if your lawn and garden equi pment
engine or a part of it has failed due to abuse, ne-
glect, improper maintenance, unapproved mod-
ifications, or the use of parts not m ade or ap-
proved by the or iginal equipment manufacturer.
You ar e r esponsible for p r esenting your lawn
and garden equipm ent engine t o a POULAN /
WEED EATER authorized r epair center as
soon as a problem exists. War ranty repairs
should be completed in a reasonable amount of
time, not to exceed 30 days. If you have any
questions regar dingyour war r antyrights and r e-
sponsibilities, you should contact your nearest
authorized service center or call POULAN/
WEED EATER at 1--800--554--6723. WAR-
RANTY COMMENCEMENT DA TE: The w ar-
ranty period begins on the date the lawn and
garden equipment engine is purchased.
LENGTH OF COVERAGE: This warr antyshall
be for a per iod of two years from the initial date
of purchase. WHAT IS COVERED: REPAIR
OR REPLACEMENT OF P ARTS. Repair orre-
placement of any warranted part will be per-
formed at no charge to the owner at an ap-
proved POULAN/WEED EATER s ervicing
center. If youhave any questions regardingyour
war r anty r ights and responsibilities, you should
contact your nearest authorized service center
or call PO ULAN/WEED EATER at
1--800--554--6723 W ARRANTY PERIOD: Any
warr anted part w hich is not scheduled for re-
placement as required maintenance, or whichis
scheduled only for regular inspection to the ef-
fect of “repair or replace as necessary” shall be
warr antedfor2 years. Any warr anted part w hich
is scheduled for replacement as requir ed main-
tenance shall be warr anted for theperiod of time
up to the first scheduled r eplacement point for
that part. DIAGNOSIS: The ow ner shall not be
charged for diagnostic labor which leads to the
determination that a warr anted part is defective
if the diagnostic work i s per for med at an ap-
provedPOULAN/WEEDEA TERservic in gcen-
ter. CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES: POU-
LAN /WEED EATER may be liable for damages
to other engine components caused by the fail-
ure of a war r anted part still under warranty.
WH AT IS N OT C OVERED : All failures caus ed
by abuse, neglect, or impropermaintenance ar e
not covered. ADD--ON OR MODIFIED
P ARTS: The use of add--on or modified parts
can be groundsfor disallowing a warr antyclaim.
POULAN/WEED EATER is not liable to cover
failures of warranted parts caused by the use of
add--on or modified parts. HOW TO FILE A
CLAIM: If you have any questions regarding
your warranty rights and r es ponsibilities, you
should contact your near est authorized ser v ice
center or call POULAN /W EED EATER at
1--800--554--6723. WHERE TO GET WAR-
RANTY SERVICE: Warranty services or re-
pairs shall be provided at al l POUL AN/WEED
EATER service centers. call: 1--800--554--6723
MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT AND RE-
PAIR O F EMISSION RELATED PARTS:Any
POULAN/WEED EATER approved r eplace-
ment part used in the perform ance of any war-
ranty maintenance or repair on emission related
parts will be providedwithout charge to the ow n-
er if the part is under warranty. EMISSION
CONTROL WARRANTY PARTS LIST: Car-
buretor, I gnition System: Spark Plug (covered
up to maintenance schedule), Ignition Module.
MAINTENANCE STATEMENT: The o w ner is
responsible for the performance of all requir ed
maintenance as defined in the instruction manu-
al.
