WARNING: Inspect the area before
startingtheunit. Remove alldebris andhardob-
jects such as rocks, glass, w ire, etc. that can
ricochet,be t hrown,or otherwisecause injuryor
damage during operation.
D Always wea r eye protection when operating,
servicing, or performing maintenance on unit.
Wearing e ye protection will help to pr event
rocks, brush or debris from being th rown o r
ricocheting into eyes and face which can re-
sult in blindness and/or s erious injury. Eye
protection should be marked Z87.
D Always wear foot protection. Do not gobare-
foot or wear sandals.
D Wear hearingprotection when using this unit.
D Securehair above shoulderlength. Secure or
remove jewelry, loose clothing, or clothing
with loosely hanging straps, ties, tassels, etc.
They can b e caught in moving parts.
D Do not o perate unit whenyou aretired, ill,up-
set, or if you a re under the influence of alco-
hol, d rugs, o r medication.
D Keep children,bystanders,andanimals a way
from work area a m inimum of 30 feet (10 m)
when starting or operating unit.
HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION, IT
IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE
D Eliminate a ll sources o f sparks or f lame (in-
cluding smoking, o pen flames, o r work that
can cause sparks) i n the areas where fuel is
mixed, poured, or stored.
D Mix and pour fuel in a n outdoor area; store
fuel inacool, dry ,wellventilatedplace; u sean
approved, mar ked container for all f uel pur-
poses.
D Do not smoke whilehandling fuelor whileop-
erating the unit.
D Do not fill fuel tank while engine is running.
D Turnthe engineoffandlethedge trimmercool
ina non--combustiblearea, noton dryleaves,
straw ,paper ,etc. S lowly removefuel capand
refuel unit.
D Wipe up fuel spills before starting the engine.
D Move at least 10 feet (3 me ters) away from
fuel and fueling site before starting engine.
D Always store gasoline i n a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.
OPERATE YOUR UNIT SAFELY

connected, and the blade has stopped mov-
ing before removing jammed ma terial from
the cutting blade.Do no tgrabor holdthe unit
by the cutting blade.
D Inspect unit before each use for worn, loose,
missing, or damaged parts. Do not use until
unit i s in proper working order .
D Keep outside surfaces free from oil and fuel.
D Never start or run engine inside a closed
room or building. Breathing exhaust fumes
can kill.
D Avoid dang erousenvironments. Donotusein
unventilatedareas orwhereexplosivevapors
or carbon m onoxide buil d up could be pre-
sent.
