HOC INDICATOR ADJUSTMENTS
For accurate cutting the height shown on the
HOC indicator dial must match the cutting
height.
Adjust Index Wheel
1. Release tension on HOC belt (see Adjust
HOC Belt Tension
on page 33).
2. Move transport lock knob into off (up)
position.
3. Move deck to lowest position – 1.5"
(38 mm).
IMPORTANT: Deck is in lowest position when
deck lift contact arm is seated on the lowest
position of the HOC cam. See Figure 28.
4. Rotate HOC wheel so the lowest cutting
position (1.5 (38)) is indicated. Reset dial
position if necessary.
5. Tighten belt tensioner.
Adjust HOC Belt Tension
See Figure 29.
1. Loosen the outer lock nut on the HOC
belt tensioner.
2. Loosen the inner lock nut enough to allow
the tensioner to move.
3. Using a spring scale or similar tool,
position the tensioner to where 5 – 7 lbs
(2.3 – 3.2 kg) of force is applied to the
HOC belt.
4. Tighten the inner lock nut.
5. Tighten the outer lock nut.
Removing the Mower Deck
See Figure 30.
1. Remove PTO belt (see
Replacing Mower
Belts
on page 30).
NOTICE: Support the mower deck on blocks
or jack stands before disconnecting links from
mower lift arms to prevent the deck from
falling.
2. Raise the deck to the transport position
and release tension on the lift assist
springs (6) from the mower lift arms (1) on
each side of the deck.
3. Slowly lower the deck to its lowest
position.
4. Remove hardware (5) retaining mower lift
links (2) attached to mower deck.
5. Remove the front mounting pin hardware
(7) and drag link mounting pins (4).
6. Slide mower deck out from under unit.

WARNING: AVOID INJURY.
Mower lift arms and mower lift
pedal could cause severe injury
if tension on the lift assist spring
is not released before
disconnecting the lift links.
Springs store energy. Keep body
parts well away from pinch
points when removing the deck.
