CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION DRIVE
BELT
Severalcomponentsmustbe removedand specialtoolsusedinorder
to changethetractor'stransmissiondrivebelt.Seea Searsorother
qualifiedservicedealerto havethetransmissiondrivebelt replaced.
CHANGING THE DECK BELT
Shutthe engineoff andremoveignitionkeybeforeremovingthe
cuttingblade(s)for sharpeningor replacement.Protectyourhands
usingheavygloveswhengraspingbladesand pulleys.
TheV-beltsfoundon yourtractorarespeciallydesignedtoengage
anddisengagesafely.A substitute(non-OEM)Vibeltcan bedanger-
ous bynotdisengagingcompletely.Fora properworkingmachine,
use factoryapprovedbeltsas listedin the PartsListof thismanual..
All beltsonyourtractoraresubjectto wearandshouldbereplacedif
any signsofwear arepresent. Tochangeor replacethe deck belton
yourtractor,proceedas follows:
1. Removethe deckas instructedinthe CuttingDecksection.
2. Removethe beltcoversfromtheouter spindlesby removingthe
hexwasherscrewsthatfastenthemto thedeck.SeeFigure15.

NOTE:Theidlerpulleysmayhaveto beloosened,butnotremoved,in
orderto removethebelt fromaroundthem.
