SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
Depressclutch/brake pedal and engage parkingbrake.
Measure distance between brake operatingarmand nut
=A"on brake rod.
Ifdistance isotherthan 1-9116",loosenjam nutand turn
nut =A"untildistance becomes 1-9/16". Retighten jam
nut against nut =A".
Road test tractorfor properstoppingdistance as stated
above. Readjust ifnecessary. If stopping distance is
still greater than six (6) feet in highest gear, further
maintenance is necessary. Contact your nearest au-
thorized service center/department.
WITH PARKING BRAKE "ENGAGED"

Parkthetractoron level surface. Engage parking brake. For
assistance, there isa belt installation guidedecal on bottom
side of leftfootrest.
Remove mower (See "TO REMOVE MOWER" in this
sectionof this manual.)
Remove belt from stationary idlerand clutching idler.
Pullbelt slacktoward rear oftractor. Carefully remove
belt upwards from transmission input pulley and over
cooling fan blades.
Pull belt toward front oftractor and remove downward
from around engine pulley.
Install new belt byreversing above procedure.

NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT (See Fig. 27)
The motion controllever hasbeen preset at the factory and
adjustment should not be necessary.
Loosen adjustment boltin front ofthe right roarwheel,
and lightly tighten.
Start engine and move motioncontrol lever untiltractor
does not move forward or backward.
Hold motion centrol lever inthat positionand turn engine
off.
While holdingmotion control lever in place, loosen the
adjustment bolt.
Move motion controllever tothe neutral (N) (lock gate)
position.
Tighten adjustment bolt securely.
NOTE: Ifadditionalclearanco is neededto getto adjustment
bolt, move mower deck height to the lowest position.
After above adjustment is made, if the tractor still creeps
forward or backward while motion control lever isin neutral
position,follow these steps:
Loosen the adjustment bolt.
Move the motion control lever 1/4 to 112 inch in the
direction it is trying to creep.
Tighten adjustment bolt securely.
Start engine and test.
Iftractor stillcreeps, repeat above steps untilsatisfied.

TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT
Should your transmission require removal for service or
replacement, it should be purged after reinstallation and
before operating the tractor. See "PURGE TRANSMIS-
SION" in the Operation section of this manual.
TO ADJUST STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Ifsteering wheel crossbars are not horizontal (left to right)
when wheels are positioned straight forward, remove steer-
ing wheel and reassemble per instructions in the Assembly
section of this manual.
FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBER
The front wheel tce-in andcamber are notadjustable onyour
tractor. If damage hasoccurredtoaffect thefront wheel toe-
in or camber, contact your nearest authorized service
center/department.
