ENGINE
FUELSYSTEM
IMPORTANT: It isimportantto prevent gum
depositsfrom forming in essentialfuel system
partssuch as carburetor,fuel filter, fuel hose,
or tank duringstorage.Also, experience
intimatesthat alcoholblended fuels (called
gasoholor using ethanolor methanol) can
attractmoisturewhich leads to separationand
formaUon ofacids duringstorage. Acidicgas
can damage the fuel system of an engine
while in storage.
Drain the fuel tank.
Startthe engine and let it run untilthe fuel
linesand carburetor are empty.
Never use engine or carburetor cleaner
productsin the fuel tank or permanent
damage may occur.
Use fresh fuel nextseason.
NOTE: Fuel stabilizeris an acceptable
altemative in minimizingthe formation offuel
gum depositsduringstorage. Add stabilizerto
gasolineinfuel tank or storage container.
Alwaysfollow the mk ratiofound on stabilizer
container. Run engine at least 10 minutes
after addingstabilizerto allow the stabir_.erto
reach the carburetor. Do notdrain the gas
tank and carburetorif using fuel stabilizer.
ENGINE OIL
Drain oil(withenginewaml) andreplace
clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE" inlhe
Maintenance section of thisl_"--tahU.i_._
CYMNDER
Removesparkplug.
Pour one ounce (29 mi) of oilthrough spark
plug hole intocylinder.
Pull starter handleslowlya few times to
dL_tn]_Jteoil.
Replace with new spark plug.
BATTERY
Disconnect the battery from the engine
connector and charge battery 48 hours.
OTHER
Do not store gasolinefrom one season to-----
another.
Replaceyourgasolinecan ifyourcan starts
torust Rustand/ordirtinyourgasolinewiU
cause problems.
Ifpossible,storeyourunitindoorsand cover
ittogiveprotectionfromdustand dirL
Cover yourunitwitha suitableprotective
coverthatdoes not retainmoisture.Do not
use plastic.Plasticcannotbreathewhich
allowscondensationtoformand wiUcause
your unit to rust.
IMPORTANT: Never covermower while
engine and exhaust areas are stillwarm.
CAUTION: Never store the lawn mower
with gasoline in the tank inside a building
where fumes may reach an open flame or
spark. Allow the engine to cool before
storing in any enclosure.
