TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION
Engine clicks but Loose or damaged wiring. Check all wiring.
will not start Faulty solenoid or starter. Check/replace solenoid or
(cont'd) starter.
Loss of power
Cutting too much grass/
too fast.
Throttle in "CHOKE" posi-
tion.
Build-up of grass, leaves
and trash under mower.
Dirty air filter.
Low oil level/dirty oil.
Faulty spark plug.
Dirty fuel filter.
Stale or dirty fuel.
Water in fuel.
Excessive vibration
Engine continues
to run when opera-
tor leaves seat with
attachment clutch
engaged
Poor cut - uneven
!• Spark plug wire loose.
Dirty engine air screen/
fins.
Dirty/clogged muffler.
Loose or damaged wiring.
Carburetor out of adjust-
ment.
Engine valves out of ad-
justment.
Wom, bent or loose blade.
Bent blade mandrel.
Loose/damaged part(s).
Faulty operator-safety
presence control system.
Worn, bent or loose blade.
Mower deck not level.
Buildup of grass, leaves,
and trash under mower.
Bent blade mandrel.
Set in "Higher Cut" position/
reduce speed.
Adjust throttle control.
Clean underside of mower
housing.
Clean/replace air filter.
! Check oil level/change oil.
Clean and regap or change
spark plug.
Replace fuel filter.
Drain fuel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
Drain fuel tank and carbure-
tor, refill tank with fresh gaso-
line and replace fuel filter.
Connect and tighten spark
plug wire.
Clean engine air screen/fins.
Clean/replace muffler.
Check all wiring.
See "To Adjust Carburetor" in
Service and Adjustments
section.
Contact an authorized ser-
vice center.
Replace blade. Tighten blade
bolt.
I ° Replace blade mandrel.
Tighten loose part(s). Re-
place damaged parts.
Check wiring, switches and
connections. If not
corrected, contact an autho-
rized service center.
Replace blade. Tighten blade
bolt.
Level mower deck.
Clean underside of mower
housing.
Replace blade mandrel.
