GAS AND OIL FILL-UP
Oil (one bottle shipped with unit)
FirstTimeUse
1. Removeoil filldipstick.
2. Withthe moweron levelground,filltheenginetotheupperlimit
markon thedipstickwiththerecommendedoil. SeeFigure10.
3. Replaceoil filldipstickandtighten.
Subsequent Uses
Use4-strokemotoroil thatmeetsor exceedstherequirementsforAPI
servicecategorySJorlater.AlwayschecktheAPIservicelabelon the
oilcontainertobesureitincludesthelettersSJor later.

SAE10%30 is recommendedforgeneraluse.Otherviscositiesshown
inthechartmaybeusedwhentheaveragetemperatureinyourareais
withintheindicatedrange.
1. Checktheoil withtheenginestoppedand level.
2. Removetheoil fillercap/dipstickandwipeitclean.
3. Inserttheoilfillercap/dipstickasfar asit willgo intotheoilfiller
neck,butdo notscrewitin,thenremoveittochecktheoil level.

4. Iftheoil levelisnearor belowthelowerlimitmarkonthedipstick,
removetheoil fillercap/dipstick,andfillwiththerecommendedoil
totheupperlimitmark.Donotoverfill.
5. Reinstalltheoilfillercap/dipstick.
Gasoline
This engineiscertified to operateon unleaded gasolinewith a
pumpoctane ratingof 86 or higher.
Refuelin awell-ventilatedareawiththeenginestopped.Iftheengine
hasbeenrunning,allowittocoolfirst. Neverrefueltheengineinsidea
buildingwheregasolinefumesmayreachflamesor sparks.
Youmay use regular unleaded gasolinecontaining no more
than 10%ethanol (El0) or 5%methanol by volume. Inaddition,
methanol must contain cosolvents and corrosion inhibitors.Use
of fuels with content of ethanolor methanol greater thanshown
abovemaycause starting and/or performanceproblems. It may
alsodamage metal,rubber,and plasticpartsof thefuel system.
Engine damageor performanceproblemsthat resultfrom using a
fuel with percentagesof ethanol or methanol greaterthan shown
aboveare not overedbywarranty.

Gasolineishighlyflammableandexplosive,andyoucanbe
burnedor seriouslyinjuredwhenrefueling.Stopengineand keep
heat,sparks,and flameaway.Refuelonlyoutdoors.Wipeupspills
immediately.
Ifyourequipmentwillbe usedonan infrequentorintermittentbasis,
pleaserefertotheOff SeasonStoragesectionforadditionalinforma-
tion regardingfueldeterioration.
NOTE:Fuelcandamagepaintand sometypesof plastic.Becareful
nottospillfuelwhenfillingyourfueltank.
Neverusestaleorcontaminatedgasolineoroil/gasolinemixture.
Avoidgettingdirt orwaterin thefueltank.
1. Removethefueltankcap.
2. Addfueltothebottomof thefuellevellimitin theneckofthe
fueltank.Donotoverfill.Wipeupspilledfuelbeforestartingthe
engine.
3. Installthefueltankcapandtightenituntilitclicks.
4. Moveatleast10feetawayfromthefuelingsourceandsitebefore
startingtheengine.
Besurenooneotherthantheoperatorisstandingnearthelawn
mowerwhilestartingengineoroperatingmower.Neverrunengine
indoorsorin enclosed,poorlyventilatedareas.Engineexhaust
containscarbonmonoxide,an odorlessanddeadlygas.Keephands,
feet,hairand looseclothingawayfromanymovingpartson engine
andlawnmower.
