Important notes on Serial ATA

You must install Windows
®
2000 Service Pack 4 or the Windows
®
XP
Service Pack 1 before using Serial ATA hard disk drives. The Serial
ATA RAID feature (RAID 0/RAID 1/RAID 5/RAID 10) is available only
if you are using Windows
®
2000/XP/Server 2003 or later version.

When using the connectors in Standard IDE mode, connect the
primary (boot) hard disk drive to the SATA1 or SATA2 connector.
Refer to the table below for the recommended SATA hard disk drive
connections.

Serial ATA connectors
(7-pin EXT_SATA1, EXT_SATA2, EXT_SATA3)
These connectors are for Serial ATA signal cables. These connectors
support Serial ATA hard disk drives.
Set the Marvell SATA Controller and Marvell SATA BOOTROM items in
the BIOS to [Enabled] to use the connectors to build a RAID set. See
section “4.4.6 Onboard Devices Conguration” for details.
Before creating a RAID set using Serial ATA hard disks, make sure that
you have connected the Serial ATA signal cables and installed Serial ATA
hard disk drives; otherwise, you cannot enter the Marvell
®

RAID utility.
