EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR W ARRANTY RIGHTS AND
OBLIGA TIONS:
The U. S. Environmental
Protection Agency/Environment Canada and
POULAN/WEED EATER, DIVISION OF WCI
OUTDOOR PRODUCTS ar e pleased t o
explain the emissions control system w ar r anty
on your lawn and garden equipment engine. All
new ut ility and law n and gar den equipment
engines m ust be designed, built, and equipped
to meet the stringent anti--smog standards.
POULAN/WEED EATER must warr ant the
emission control system on your l aw n and
gardenequipment enginefor the periods of time
listed below provided ther e has been no abuse,
neglect, or improper maintenance o f your lawn
and garden equipment engine. Your emission
control system includes parts such as the
carburetor and the ignition system. Wher e a
warr antable condition exi ts, POULAN/WEED
EATER will repair your lawn and garden
equipment engine at no cost to you. Expenses
covered under warr anty include diagnosis,
parts and labor.
MANUFACTURER’S
W ARRANTY COVERAGE:
If any emissions
related part on your engine ( as listed under
Emissions Control Warr anty Parts List) is
defective or a defect in the materials or
work manshipof theengine causesthe failure of
such an emission related part, the part will be
repaired or replaced by POU L AN/WEED
EATER.
OWNER’S W ARRANTY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the lawn and garden
equipment engine owner, y ou are responsible
for t he performance of the required
maintenance listed in your Ow ner’s M anual.
POULAN/WEED EATER recommends that
you retain all receipts covering maintenance on
your law n and garden equipment engine, but
POULAN/WEED EATER cannot deny
war ranty s olely for the lack of receipts or for
your failur e to ensure the performance o f all
scheduled maintenance. As the law n and
garden equipment engine ow ner,you should be
awar e that POU L AN/WEED EA TER may deny
you w ar r anty cover age if yourlawn and gar den
equipment engine or a part of it hasfailed dueto
abuse, neglect, impr oper maintenance,
unapproved modifications, or the use of parts
not made or approvedby the or iginalequipment
manufacturer. You are responsible for
presenting your lawn and garden equipment
engine to a POULAN/WEED EATER
authorized repair center as soon as a pr oblem
exists. W ar r antyrepairs shouldbe completed in
a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30
days. If you have anyquestions r egar dingyour
war r anty rights and responsibilities, you should

W ARRANTY
COMMENCEMENT DA TE:
The w ar r anty
period begins on the date the lawn and garden
equipment engine is purchased.
LENG TH OF
COVERAGE:
This war r anty shall be for a
period o f t wo years fr om the initial date of
purchase.
WH ATIS COVERED: REPAIROR
REPLACEMENT OF PARTS.
Repair or
replacement of any warranted part will be
performed at no charge to the owner at an
approved PO ULAN/WEED EATER servicing
center.Ifyou have anyquestions regardingyour
war r anty rights and responsibilities, you should
contact your nearest authorized service center

W ARRANTY PERIOD:
Any
warr anted part which i s not schedul ed for
replacement as requiredmaintenance, orwhich
is scheduled onl y for regular inspection to the
effect of “r epair o r replace as necessary” shall
be warranted f or 2 year s. Any w ar r anted part
which is scheduled for replacement as required
maintenanceshall bewarr anted forthe periodof
time up to the first scheduled replacement point
for that par t.
DIAGNOSIS:
The ow ner shall not
be charged for diagnostic labor w hich leads to
the determ ination t hat a warr anted part is
defective if the diagnostic wor k is performed at
an approved POULAN/WEED EATER
servicing center.
CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES:
POULAN/WEED EA TER may be
liable for damages to other engine com ponents
caused by the failure of a war r anted par t still
under warranty.
WH ATIS NOT C OVERED
:All
failures c aused by abuse, neglect, or improper
maintenance are not covered.
ADD--ON OR
MODIFIED P ARTS:
The use of add--on or
modified parts can be gr ounds for disallowing a
warranty claim. POULAN /W EEDEATER is not
liable to cover failures o f w ar ranted parts
caused by the use of add--on or m odified par ts.

:Any
POULAN/WEED EATER approved
replacement part used in the perform ance of
any w ar r anty maintenance or repair on
emission related parts will be provided without
chargeto the ownerifthe par tis underwar r anty.
