WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR W ARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGA-
TIONS: The U. S. Environmental Protection
Agency and POU LAN /WEED EATER , DIVI-
SION OF WCI OUTDOOR PRODUCTS, INC.,
are pleased t o explain the emissions control
system warrantyon youryear 2001--2004 small
off--road engine. POULAN/WEED EATER
must warr ant the emission control system on
your small off--road engine for the periods of
time listed below provided there has been no
abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance o f
your small off--road engine. Your emission con-
trol system includes parts such as the car bure-
tor and the ignition system. Where a war rant-
able condition exi sts, POULAN/WEED EATER
will repair your small off--road engine at no cost
to you. Expenses covered under warr anty in-
clude diagnosis, parts and labor. MANUF AC-
TURER’S WARRANTY COVERAGE: If any
emissions r elated par t on your engine (as listed
under Emissions Control W ar r anty Parts List) is
defective or a defect in the materials or wor k-
manshipof the engine causes the failure ofsuch
anemission relatedpart, the par twill be repaired
or replaced by POUL AN/WEED E ATE R .
OWNER’S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILI-
TIES: As the small off--road engine ow ner, you
are responsible for the performance of the re-
quired maintenance listed in your instruction
manual. POULAN/WEED EATER recom-
mends that you r etain all r eceipts cover ing
maintenance on y our small off--road engine,but
POULAN /WEED EATER cannot deny warran-
ty solelyfor the lackof receiptsorforyourfailu re
to ensure the per form ance of all scheduled
maintenance. As the small off--road engine
owner, you should be awar e that P O U LAN/
WEED EATE R may deny you war r anty cover-
age if your small off--road engine or a par t of i t
hasfailed due to abuse, neglect, impropermain-
tenance, unapproved modifications, or the use
of parts not made or approved by the original
equipment manufacturer. You are responsible
for presenting your small of f--road engine to a
POULAN /WEED EATER authorized r epair
center as soon as a problem exists. War ranty
repairs should be com pleted in a reasonable
amount of time, not to exceed 30 days. If you

W ARRANTY COMMENCEMENT DATE: The
war ranty period begins on the date the small
off--road engine i s purchased. LENGTH OF
COVERAGE: This warr anty s hall be for a peri-
od of tw o years fromthe initial date of purchase.
WH AT IS C OVER ED: REPAIR O R RE-
PLACEMENT OF P ARTS. Repair or replace-
ment of any w ar r anted part will be performed at
no charge to the owner at an approved POU-
LAN/WEED EATER servicing center. If you
have any questions regar ding your warr anty
rights and respons ibilities, you should contact
your nearest authorized service center or call
POULAN /WEED EATER at 1--800--554--6723.
W ARRANTY PERIOD: Any war r anted part
which is not scheduled for replacement as re-
quired m aintenance, or which is scheduled only
for regular inspection to the effect of ”repair or
replace as necessary” shall be w ar ranted for 2
years. Any warranted part which is scheduled
for replacement as required maintenance shall
be w ar r anted for the period oftime upto the first
scheduled r eplacement point for that par t.
DIAGNOSIS: The owner shall not be charged
for diagnostic labor which leads to the deter-
mination that a war r anted par t is defective if the
diagnostic work is perform ed at an approved
POULAN/WEED EATER s e rvicing center.
CONSEQUENTIAL DAM AGES: POU L AN/
WEED EATER may be liable for damages to
other engine components caused by the failure
of a warranted part still under warr anty. WHAT
IS NOT CO VERED: All failures caused by
abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance are
not covered. ADD--ON OR MODIFIED
P ARTS: The use of add--on or modified parts
canbe g roundsfordisallowinga war rantyclaim.
POULAN /WEED EATER is not liable to cover
failures of w ar r anted par tscaused by the useof
add--on or modified parts. HOW TO FILE A
CLAIM: If you have any questions regar ding
your warranty rights and r esponsibilities, you

MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT AND RE-
PAIR OF EMISSION R ELATED PAR T S: Any
POULAN/WEED EA TER approved replace-
ment par t used in the per form ance of any w ar-
ranty maintenance o rrepair on emission related
parts willbe pr ovidedwithout chargeto the own-
er if t he part is under warr anty. EMISSIO N

Carbur etor, Ignition System: Spark Plug ( cov-
ered up to maintenance schedule), Ignition
Module. MAINTENANCE ST A TEMENT: The
owner is r esponsible for the performance o f a ll
required maintenance as defined in the instruc-
tion manual.
This engine is certified to be emissions compliant for the following use:
Moderate (50 hours)
Intermediate (125 hours)
Extended (300 hours)
