YOUR W ARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGA-

OUTDOOR PRODUCTS are pleased t o ex-
plain the emissions control system warranty on
your year 2000--2003 small o f f--road engine. In
California, all new sm all o f f--road engines must
be designed, built, and equipped to meet the
State’s s tringent ant i--smog standards. POU-
LAN /WEEDEA TERmust war rant the emission
control system onyoursmall off--road enginefor
the periods of time listed below provided there
has been no abuse, neglect, or improper main-
tenance of your small off--road engine engine.
Your emission control system includes par ts
such as the c ar buretor and the ignition system.
Where a warrantable c ondition exists, POU-
LAN /WEED EATER will repair your small off--
road engine engine at no cost to you. Expenses
covered under warr anty include diagnosis,
parts and labor. MANUFACTURER’S WAR-
RANTY COVERAGE: If any emissions related
part o n your engine (as listed under Emissions
Control War r anty Parts List)is defective or ade-
fect in the m aterials or w or kmanship of the en-
gine causes the failure of such an emission re-
lated part, the part will be repaired or replaced
by POUL AN/WEED EATER . OWNER’S
W ARRANTY RESPON SIBILITIES: As the
small off--road engine engine owner, y ou are re-
sponsible for the performance of the r equired
maintenance listed in your instruction manual.
POULAN/WEED EATER recommends that
you retain all receipts covering maintenance on
your small off--road engine, but POU L AN/
WEED EATER cannot deny w ar r anty solely for
the lack of r eceipts or for your failure to ensure
the performance of all scheduled maintenance.
As the s mall off--road engine engine owner, you
should be aware that POULAN/WEED EATER
may deny you warranty coverage if your small
off--road engine engine or a part of it has failed
due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance,
unapproved modifications, or the use of par ts
not made orapprovedby the original equipment
manufacturer. You a r e r esponsible for p resent-
ing your small off--road engine to a POUL AN/
WEED EATER authorized r epair center as
soon as a pr oblem exists. War ranty r epair s
should be completed in a r easonable amount of
time, not to exceed 30 days. If you have any
questionsregardingyourwarrantyrights and re-
sponsibilities, you should contact your near est
authorized service center or call POULAN/
WEED EATER at 1--800--554--6723.
W ARRANTY COMMENCEMENT DATE: The
war ranty period begins on the date the small
off--road engine i s purchased. LENGTH OF
COVERAGE: This warr anty s hall be for a peri-
od of tw o years fromthe initial date of purchase.
WH AT IS C OVER ED: REPAIR O R RE-
PLACEMENT OF P ARTS. Repair or replace-
ment of any w ar r anted part will be performed at
no charge to the owner at an approved PO U-
LAN /WEED EATER servicing center. I f you
have any questions regar ding your warr anty
rights and respons ibilities, you should contact
your nearest authorized service center or call

W ARRANTY PERIOD: Any war r anted part
which is not scheduled for replacement as re-
quired m aintenance, or which is scheduled only
for regular inspection to the effect of “repair or
replace as necessary” shall be w ar ranted for 2
years. Any warranted part which is scheduled
for replacement as required maintenance shall
be w ar r anted for the period oftime upto the first
scheduled r eplacement point for that par t.
DIAGNOSIS: The owner shall not be charged
for diagnostic labor which leads to the deter-
mination that a war r anted par t is defective if the
diagnostic work is perform ed at an approved
POULAN/WEED EATER ser vicing center.
CONSEQUENTIAL DAM AGES: POU L AN/
WEED EA TER may be liable for damages to
other engine components caused by the failure
of a warr anted part still under war r anty. WHAT
IS NOT COVERED : A ll failures caused by
abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance are
not covered. ADD--ON OR MODIFIED
P ARTS: The use of add--on or modified parts
canbe g roundsfordisallowinga war rantyclaim.
POULAN/WEED EA TER is not liable to cover
failures of w ar r anted par tscaused by the useof
add--on or modified parts. HOW TO FILE A
CLAIM: If you have any questions regar ding
your warranty rights and r esponsibilities, you
should contact y our near est authorized service
center or call POULAN /W EED EA TER at
1--800--554--6723. WHERE TO GET WAR-

pairs shall be provided at all POULAN/WEED

MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT AND RE-
PAIR OF EMISSIO N R ELATED PARTS:Any
POULAN/WEED EATER approved r eplace-
ment par t used in the per form ance of any w ar-
ranty maintenance o rrepair on emission related
parts willbe pr ovidedwithout chargeto the own-
er i f the part i s under warranty. EMISSIO N
CONTROL WARRANTY P ARTS LIST: Car-
buretor, Ignition System: Spark Plug (cover ed
up to maintenance schedule), Ignition Module,
Muffler including catalyst. MAINTENANCE
STATEMENT: The owner is responsible for the
performance of all required maintenance as de-
fined in the instruction manual.
This engine is certified to be emissions compliant for the following use:
Moderate (50 hours)
Intermediate (125 hours)
Extended (300 hours)
