TIONS:
The U. S. E nvir onmental Protection
Agency and POULAN /WEED EATER, DIVI-
SION OF WCI OUTDOOR PRODUCTS are
pleased to expl aintheemissions cont rolsystem
war ranty on your law n and garden equipment
engine. All new utility and lawn and garden
equipment engines must be desi gned, built, and
equipped to m eet the stringent anti--smog stan-
dards. PO U LAN /WEED EATER must warrant
the emission control system on your lawn and
gardenequipment engi neforthe periods of time
listed below provided there has been no abuse,
neglect, or improper maintenance of your law n
and garden equipment engine. Your emission
control system includes parts such as the car-
buretor and the ignition system. Where a war-
rantable c ondition exi ts, POULAN/WEED EAT-
ER w ill repair your lawn and garden equipm ent
engine at no costto you. Expensescoveredun-
derwarrantyinclude diagnosis, partsand labor.
MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY C OVER-
AGE:
If any emissions related par t on your en-
gine (aslisted underEmissions ControlWarr an-
ty Parts List) is defective or a defect in the
materials o r wor kmanship of the engi ne causes
the failure of such an emission related part, the
part will be repaired or replaced by POULAN/
WEED EATER.
OWNER’S W ARRANTY RE-
SPONSIBILITIES:
As the lawn and garden
equipment engine owner, you are responsible
for the performance of the required mainte-
nance listed in yourOw ner’sManual.POULAN /
WEED EATER recom mends that you retain all
receipts covering maintenance on your lawn
and garden equipment engine, but POULAN/
WEED E ATER cannot deny warr anty solely for
the lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure
the performance o f all scheduled maintenance.
As the lawnand garden equipment engineown-
er, you should be awar e that POULAN /WEED
EA TER may deny you warr anty coverage if
your lawn and gar den equipment engine or a
part o f i t has failed due to abuse, neglect, im-
propermaintenance, unapprovedmodifications,
or the use of par ts not made orapproved by the
original equipment manufacturer. You are r e-
sponsible for presenting your lawn and garden
equipment engine to a POULAN/WEED EA T-
ER authorized repair center as soon as a pr ob-
lem exists. War r anty repairs should be com-
pleted in a reasonable amount of time, not to
exceed 30 days. If you have any questions re-
garding your war ranty rights and responsibili-

This war r anty shall be for a period o f two
years from the initial date of purchase.
WHAT
IS C OVERED : REPA IR OR REPLACEMENT
OF P ARTS.
Repair or r eplacement of any w ar-
ranted part will be performedat no charge to t he
owner at an approved POULAN/WEED E AT-
ER servicing center . If you have any questions
regarding your warr anty r ights and responsibili-
ties, y oushouldcontactyour nearestauthorized
service c e nte r or c a ll POULAN/W EED EA TER
at 1--800--554--6723.
W ARRANTY PERIOD:
Any warranted part which is not scheduled for
replacement as requiredmaintenance, orwhich
isscheduledonlyforregularinspectionto the ef-
fect of “ repair or r eplace as necessary” s hall be
warr antedfor2years. Any war rantedpartwhich
is scheduled f or replacement as required main-
tenance shall be warrantedfortheperiod oftime
up to the first scheduled replacement point for
that par t.
DIAGNOSIS:
The ownershall not be
charged for diagnostic labor which leads to the
determination that a war ranted par t is defective
if the diagnostic work is performed at an ap-
provedPOULAN/WEEDEA TERservicingcen-
ter.
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES:
POU-
LAN/WEED E ATER may beliable fordamages
to other engine components c aused by the fail-
ure of a warr anted part still under warranty.
WH AT IS N OT COVERED
: All failu res caused
by abuse, neglect, orimpropermaintenance are
not covered.
ADD--ON OR MODIFIED
P ARTS:
The use of add--on or modified parts
canbe groundsfor disallowinga warrantyclaim.
POULAN /WEED EA TER is not liable to cover
failures o f warr anted parts caused bythe useof
add--on or modified parts.
