TheopticsofthetelescopearealignedcorrectlyatVixen’sfactorybeforeshipment.Itisrarethat
telescopesgooutofalignment,unlessitstubeisknockedstrongly.Followprocedurebelowto
determineifthetelescopeisoutofcollimation.
Examine the Collimation
Selectasecond‐orthird‐magnitudestarandplaceitthecenterofthetelescope’sfieldofviewbyusing
amoderatelyhighpowereyepiece.Focusthestarprecisely.Andthendefocusslightlyandyouwilllook
forstripedpatternsthatsurroundthestar.Ifthestripedpatterncanbeseenasaconcentricimage,
yourtelescopeisproperlyaligned
