FillthehydraulicreservoirwithatleastfivegallonsofDextronIIIAutomaticTransmissionfluidor
10WAWhydraulicfluid.Afterthehydraulicreservoirandtheenginecrankcasearefilled
correctlywiththeirrespectiveoils,starttheengine.Remembertosetthethrottleandturnonthe
fuelshut-offvalve.Thehydraulicpumpshouldprimeitself.Withtheenginerunning,movethe
hydraulicvalvelevertowardthewedge.Thiswillcausethecylindertoexte
ndandexpelair.When
thecylinderisfullyextended,retractit.Repeatthisprocedureseveraltimes.Anerraticmovement
ofthecylinderindicatesthatthereisstillairinthesystem.Moreoilshouldthenbeaddedtobring
thefluidleveluptoapproximately1”belowthefillhole.Afteraddingmoreoiltofillthetank,
cyclethecylinderagainuntilithasaconstantspeedindicatingthatallairhasbeenexpelled.Check
theoillevelinthereservoiragain.Standardmodelsrequireapprox.6.5gallonsofhydraulicfluid.

retracted.
STARTUP

equippedwithafuelshut-offvalvefortowingpurposes.
Beforestartingenginemakesurecrankcaseisfilledcorrectlywithoilandtheproperfuelhasbeen
used.Theenginewillonlystartwhenthethrottleleverandfuelshut-offvalveareturnedtotheir
ONpositions.
COLDWEATHERSTARTUP
TheColdWeatherClutchenablestheenginetobestartedwithouthavingtopullthroughcold,
thickenedhydraulicfluid.Simplypullthehandleoutandslideintolockedposition.Startengine,
letitwarmup,andreleaseColdWeatherClutch.Afterstarting,assurethattheleverhasreengaged.
TOWING
Thisunitshouldnotbetowedonanystreet,highway,orpublicroadwithoutcheckingtheexisting
federal,local,andstatelaws.Anylicensingormodificationssuchastaillights,etc.,needtocomply
withexistingfederal,local,orstatevehiclerequirementsisthesoleresponsibilityofthepurchaser.
Obeyallregulationswhentowingonpublicroadsandhighways.SeealsoTOWINGSAFETY.
Besureyouareusingthecorrectballhitchsizeforthehitchcoupleronthelogsplitter(2”ball).
Besuresafetychainsareproperlyconnected.Leaveenoughslackinchainsforturning.See

Makesurebeamattachmentislockedinthehorizontalposition.NEVERtowsplitterinthevertical

Turnthefuelshut-offvalveOFFtopreventfloodingoftheenginewhiletraveling.
