SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS And PRE-OPERATION CHECKLIST FOR
SNAPPER SX MODEL SINGLE STAGE SNOW THROWERS
The Snapper SX snow throwers are shipped with the upper handle folded forward, and with the discharge chute
and chute control handle detached. These machines are designed for quick set-up. No special tools are
required. Carefully follow and complete each step. Review and complete each item as instructed on the Pre-
Operation checklist. The Snapper Product Registration card must be filled out and sent to the Customer Service
department at SNAPPER when completed.
STEP 1: Remove machine from shipping carton. Machine is
shipped in carton with handles folded. Remove and discard
cardboard from between all handles. Raise upper handle
until it is in line and seats into lower handle. Securely tighten
upper handle with knobs and curved head bolts on both
sides. Install chute crank onto machine. Anchor the crank
to the upper handle using the eye bolt and nuts. See
Figure 1.

STEP 2: Install discharge chute into position on the
chute ring and secure into place with three nylon clamps.
Each nylon clamp is secured in place with two #10 x 1/2”
self-tapping screws. See Figure 2.
STEP 3: Secure the lower end of chute crank to the
mounting bracket with cotter pins. Loosen the pivot bolt
and nut. Rotate adjustment nut clockwise to increase
teeth engagement or counterclockwise to decrease teeth
engagement. Pivot the worm mounting bracket away
from, or toward, the ring gear until the chute rotates
easily and teeth on ring gear and worm gear are fully
engaged. Tighten pivot bolt and nut. See Figure 3.
