9. Electric Start: First connect the extension cord to
the power cord receptacle (A, Figure 4) and then into
a wall receptacle. If an additional extension cord is
required, make sure it is a 3-wire.
WARNING
If the extension cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent
or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a
hazard.
NOTE: If the engine does not start after three
attempts, see the “Troubleshooting” section in the
Engine Owner’s Manual.
11. Allow the engine to warm up for several minutes.
Then, slowly move the choke control knob to the run
position.
CAUTION
To extend the life of the starter, use short starting
cycles (five seconds maximum). Wait one minute
between starting cycles.

STOPPING THE ENGINE
WARNING
Gasoline and its vapors are extremely flammable
and explosive.Fire or explosion can cause severe
burns or death. Do not choke the carburetor to
stop the engine.
1. Move the stop switch (A, Figure 2), if equipped, to
the STOP position.
Or move the throttle control lever (A, Figure 3 ), if
equipped, to SLOW and then to the STOP position.
2. Remove the safety key (C). Keep the safety key out
of reach of children.
3. After the engine stops, turn the fuel shut-off valve (B)
to the CLOSED position.
10. Electric Start: Depress the push button (B). After
you start the engine, first disconnect the exten-
sion cord from the wall receptacle and then from the
power cord receptacle (A).
