TO REPLACE MOTION DRIVE BELT
(See Fig. 26)
Park the tractor on level surface, Engage parkingbrake.
Forease ofservice there is a belt installation guide decal on
bottom of left footrest..
• Remove mower (See '3"0 REMOVE MOWER" inthis
section of this manual.)
BELT REMOVAL -
o Engage parking brake (creates slack in belt).
= Remove belt from clutching and fan idler pulteys_
° Remove belt from transaxle pulley.
• Remove belt from engine pulley and front V-idter
pulley.
• Pullbelt out ofal!belt keepers and remove from tractor.
BELT INSTALLATION -
• Place V part of belt into grooves on engine pulley and
front V-idler, making sure to route belt insideof all belt
keepers.
• Route belt on right side, coming from V-idler, towards
back of tractor, above midspan belt keeper and to top
of transaxle pulley_
• Route belt on left side, coming from engine pulley,
towards back of tractor and through loop in midspan
belt keeper_
• Place V part of belt into grooves on transaxle and fan
idler pulleys, making sure to route belt insideof all belt
keepers°
• Place belt around clutching idlers as shown, making
sure to route belt inside of all belt keepers,
• Check to be sure belt is positioned correctly and ison
proper side of a!l belt keepers°
° Reinstall mower°

TO ADJUST MOTION CONTROL LEVER
(See Fig. 27)
The motion control lever has been preset at the factory and
adjustment should not be necessary.
If for any reason the motion control lever will not hold its
positionwhile at a selected speed, itmay be adjusted atthe
friction pack located on the right side of chassis.
• Park tractor on !evel surface. Stop tractor by turning
ignition key to OFF" position and engage parking
brake.
• Place motion control lever in neutral (N) position.
o While holding Iocknut, loosen jam nut
- Tighten Iocknut 1/4 turn_
• While holding locknut, tighten jam nut securely.
NOTE: If for any reason the effort to move the motion
control lever becomes too excessive, reverse the above
adjustment procedure by loosening iocknut 1/4 turn.
Road test tractor after' adjustment and repeat procedure if
necessary,

when wheels are positioned straight forward, removesteer-
ing wheel and reassemble per'instructions inthe Assembly
