STARTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mix gas with oil. Fill fuel tank with fuel/oil mixture.
Refer to Oil and Fuel Mixing Instructions.
2. Make sure the On/Off Stop Control is in the ON (I)
position (Fig. 16).
3. Fully press and release the primer bulb 10 times,
slowly, until FUEL IS VISIBLE IN THE PRIMER
BULB (Fig. 17). If you can’t see fuel in the bulb, press
and release the bulb as many times as it takes before
you can see fuel in it.
4. Push the EZ-Start™ Lever to the left until it clicks and
locks into place (Fig. 17).
5. While the unit is in the starting position (Fig. 18), DO
NOT SQUEEZE THE THROTTLE CONTROL. Pull the
starter rope briskly 5 times, making sure the EZ-Start™
lever is pushed to the left. If the engine starts to run
before the fifth pull, proceed to step 6. If the engine
does not start, go back to step 3.
NOTE: When starting, the EZ-Start™ Lever will
automatically click off when you squeeze the
throttle control.
NOTE: If the outside temperature or engine temperature
exceeds 90º F and the engine fails to start after 5
pulls, fully squeeze the throttle control and pull
the starter rope briskly 3 to 8 more times. The
engine should start within these pulls.
6. Squeeze the throttle control for 5 to 10 seconds in
order to warm up the engine. The EZ-Start™ Lever
will click off automatically (Fig. 17).
NOTE: if the engine stalls before you squeeze the throttle
control, hold the throttle control and pull the
starter rope until the trimmer starts.
NOTE: If the engine stalls while squeezing the throttle,
go back to step 4.
NOTE: To start a warm engine, begin at step 4.
WARNING:
Operate this unit only in a well-
ventilated outdoor area. Carbon monoxide
exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined area.
WARNING: Avoid accidental starting. Make
sure you are in the starting position when
pulling the starter rope (Fig. 18).
To avoid
serious injury, the operator and unit must be
in a stable position while starting.
