tended f unct i on. Check for alignment of
moving pa r t s, bi ndi ng o f m ovi ng part s,
bre aka ge of par ts, mounti ng and any
other conditi ons that may af f ect its op-
erati on. A guard or other part that is
damaged should be properly repair ed
or replaced by an authori zed service
dealer unl ess otherwi se i ndicat ed else-
where i n the i nstr ucti on manual.
S When no t in use, chai n saws should be
stor ed in a dr y, high or l ocked-up place
out of t he r each of chil dr en.
S When storing saw, unpl ug and use a bar
sheath or carr yi ng case.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING: Avoid a dangerous
environment. To reduce the risk of elec-
trical shock , do not use in rain, in damp
or wet locations, or around swimming
pools, hot tubs, e tc. Do not expose to
snow, rain, orwater to avoid the possibil-
ity of electrical shock. Do not handle ex-
tension cord or plug with wet hands.
S Use a volt age supply as shown on the
nameplate of the unit.
S Avoid danger ou s situati on s. Do no t use
in the presence of flammable liquids or
gases to avoid c r eat i ng a fi r e or explo-
sion and/o r causing dam ag e to unit.
S To reduce the r isk of electrical sh ock,
this appliance has a polari zed plug (one
blade is wider than the other) and will r e-
quir e t he use of a polari zed extension
cord. The appliance plug will fit into a po-
larize d extension cord only one way. If
the p l ug does not f it full y into the e xten-
sion cord, reverse the p lug. If the plug
stil l does not fi t , obtain a cor r ect polar-
ized extension cord. A polarized exten-
sion cord will requ ire the use o f a polar-
ized wall outlet. This plug w ill fit into the
polari zed w all outlet only one way . If
plug does not fit fully into the wal l outl et ,
reverse the plug. If the plug stil l does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician to install
the proper wal l out l et . Do n ot change the
equipment p l ug, extension c or d recep-
tacle, or extension cord plug in any way.
S To reduce ri sk of electr i cal shock, use
extension cords specificall y marked as
suitable for out door appliances. The
electr i cal r at ing of the cord must not be
less than the rating of unit. The cord
must be mar ked wi t h suf fix “W--A” (in
Canada, “W”). Use a polar ized cord.
Make sure your extension cor d i s i n
good condit ion. In sp ect extension cord
before use and replace if damaged. Do
not use a damaged c or d. Cord insula-
tion must be intact with no cracks or de-
teri or at i on. Plug connector s must be
undamaged. An under sized extension
cord will cause a dr op in line v ol tage re-
sulting in lo ss of power and overheatin g.
If in doubt , use the next heavier gauge.

not use multiple cords.
S Do not abuse cor d. Never carry the unit
by the extension cord or yank extens i o n
cord to disconnect unit.
S Secure extension c or d to power cor d to
prevent disconnection f r om uni t.
S Do not use the unit if the swit ch does not
turn the unit on and off properly, or if the
lockout does not work. Repairs to the
switch must be m ade by an authorized
serv i c e dea ler.
S Keep extension cord clear of oper ator
and obstacles at al l tim es. Position cord
so that it will not be caught on branches.
Do not ex pose cor ds to heat, oil , water,
or sharp edges.
S To avoid t he possibility of electric shock,
avoid body c ontact wit h any g rounde d
conductor, such as metal fences or
pipes.
S Ground Faul t Circuit Inter r upter (GFCI )
protect i on s hould be pr ovided on ci r cuit
or outl et to be used. Receptacles are
available having built-in GFCI protection
and may be used for this measure of
safety. Inspect chai n saw cords periodi-
cally and if d amaged, have repair ed by
an authorized servi ce dealer.
