OPERATOR SAFETY

Dress properly. Always wear safety glasses
or similar eye protection when operating, or
performing maintenance, on your unit ( safety
glasses areavailable). Eye pr otection should
be mar ked Z87.

Always wearface ordust maskif operation is
dusty.

Alwayswear heavy,long pants, longsleeves,
boots, andgloves. Wearing s afetylegguards
is recomm ended.

Always wearfoot protection. Do not gobare-
foot or wear sandals. Stay clear of spinning
line.

Securehairaboveshoulderlength. Secureor
remove looseclothing orclothingwithloosely
hanging ties, straps, tassels, etc. They can
be caught in moving parts.

Being fully covered also helps protect you
from debris and pieces of toxic plants throw n
by spinning line.

Stay Alert. Do not operate this unit when you
are tir ed, ill, upset orundertheinfluence of al-
cohol, drugs, or m edication. Watch what you
are doing; use com mon sense.

Wear hearing protection.

Never start or run inside a closed room or
building. B r eathing exhaust fumes can kill.

Keep handles free of oil and fuel.
UNIT / MAINTENANCE SAFETY

Disconnect the spark plug before performing
maintenance except carburetor adjustments.

Look for and replace damaged or loose par ts
before each use. Look for and repair fuel
leaks befor e u se. Keep i n good working
condition.

Replace trimm erhead parts that ar echipped,
cracked, broken, or dam aged in any other
way befor e using the unit.

Maintain unitaccording torecommendedpro-
cedures. Keep cutting line at pr oper length.

rope, string, etc.

Install required shield p r oper ly befor e using
the unit. U se only specified trimmer head;

Make carbur etor adjustments w ith lower end
supported to prevent line fromcontacting any
object.

adjustments.

FUEL SAFETY

Mix and pour fuel outdoors.
S
Keep away from sparks or flames.

Use a container approved for fuel.

Do not smoke or allow smoking near fuel or
the unit.

Av oidspillingfueloroil. Wipe u pall fuelspills.

Move at least 10 feet (3 m eters) away from
fueling site before starting engine.

Stop engine and allow to cool before remov-
ing fuel cap.

Always stor e gasoline in a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.
