FUELING ENGINE
W ARNING:
Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
This engine is certified to operate on
unleaded gasoline. Before operation,
gasoline must be mixed with a good quality
synthetic 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil
designed to be mixed a t a ration of 50:1. A
50:1ratiois obtainedby mixing2.6 ounces of
oil with 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline. DO
NOT USE automotive oil or boat oil. These
oils will cause engine damage. When mixing
fuel, follow the instructions printed on
container. Once oil is added to gasoline,
shake container momentarily to assure that
thefuelisthoroughlymixed. Always readand
follow the safety rules relating to fuel before
fueling your unit.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or
methanol)canattractmoisturewhichleadsto
separation and formation of acids during
storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel
systemofanenginewhileinstorage.Toavoid
engine problems, empty the fuel system
beforestoragefor30daysorlonger.Drainthe
gastank,starttheengineandletitrununtilthe
fuellinesandcarburetorareempty.Usefresh
fuel next s eason. Never use engine or
carburetorcleanerproductsinthefueltankor
permanent damage may occur.
T O STOP THE ENGINE

To stop the engine, move the ON/STOP
switch to theSTOP position.
W ARNING:
You MUST make sure
the tubes are secure before using the unit.
W ARNING:
T ryontheunitandadjust
the shoulder straps for fit and comfort
before
starting the engine to avoid losing control of
theunit. Alwaysstartandruntheunitin anup-
right position.

Fuel engine. Move at least 10 feet(3me-
ters) away from thefueling site.

Hold the unit in the starting position as
shown. Make sure the blower end is di-
rected away from people,animals, glass,
and solid objects.
STARTING

When starting en gine,

engine or while e ngine is runn ing. Debris such
as gravel, sand, dust, grass, etc. could be
picked up by the air intake and thrown out
through the discharge opening, damaging th e
unit or property , or causing serious injury to by-
standers o r t he operator .
W ARNING:
Avoid contact with the
muffler. A hot muffler can cause serious
burns.
ST ARTING A COLD ENGINE (or warm
engine t h at h as run out of fuel)
1. Move ON/STOP switch to the ON posi-
tion.
2. MovethechokelevertotheCLOSEposi-
tion.
3. Slowly press the primer button (located
under the carburetor) 6 times.

5. Pull starterropesharplyuntil engineruns.
NOTE:
Onlyshortpulls arenecessary. Nev-
er pull thestarter cordto its fullest extension.
Never let go of the starter handle until it is at
the fully returnedposition.
6. Oncetheenginehasstarted,slowlymove
the choke lever tothe OPEN position.
