START LEVER
The ST ART LEVER h elp s t o supp ly f uel to the
engine to aid in starting. Activate the starting
syst em by mo ving t he sta rt lever to th e START
position. DO NOT squeeze the throttle trigger
until the engine has started and runs. After the
engine starts, allow t he e ngine to warm--up
10--15 seconds, then fully squeeze the throttle
trigger to deactivate the starting system.
COUPLER
The COUPLER enables optional attach-
ments to be installed on the unit.
BEFORE STARTING ENGINE
WARNING: Be sure to read the fuel
information in the safety rules before you be-
gin. If you do not understand the safety rules,
do not attempt to fuel your unit. Call
1-800-554-6723.
FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
HELPFUL TIP
Toobtain the correct oil mix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is certified to operate on un-
leaded gasoline. Befo re operatio n, gas olin e
must be mixed with a good quality synthetic
2-cycle air-cooled eng ine oil designed t o be
mixed at a ratio of 40:1. Poula n/WEED EA TER
brand synthetic oil is recommended. Mix gaso-
line andoil ata ratioof 40:1. A 40:1ratio is ob-
tained by mixing 3.2 fluid ounces (9 5 ml) o f oi l
with1gallon(4li ters) ofunleaded gasoline.DO
NOT USE automotive oil or marine oil. These
oils will cause engine damage. When mixing
fuel, follow instructions printed on container.
Once oil is added to gasoline, shake contain-
er momentarily to assure that the fuel is thor-
oughly mixed. Always read and follow the
safety rules relating tofuel before fuelingyour
unit.
CAUTION : Never use str ai ght gasoline in
your unit. This will cause permanent engine
damage and void the limited warranty.
FUEL REQUIREMENTS
This engine requires the use of minimum 87
octane [R+M]/2 clean gasoline.
IMPORTANT
Use of alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or
using ethanol or m ethanol) can cause major en-
gine performance and durability problems.
WARNING: Alternative fuels (not gas-
oline) such as E--15 (15% alcohol), E--20 (20%
alcohol), E--85 (85%alcohol) are NOT classified
as gasoline and are NOT approved for use in
2--stroke gasoline engines. Use of alternative
fuels w ill cause problems such as: improper
clutch engagements, overheating, vapor lock,
power loss, lubrication deficiency , deterioration
of fuel lines, gaskets and internal carburetor
components, etc. Alternative fuels cause high
moisture absorption into the fuel/oil mixture
leadi ng to oil and fuel separation.
HOW TO STOP YOUR UNIT
S Release the throttle trigger.
S Push and release the engine ON/STOP
switch. The switch will automatically return to
the ON position. W ait 5 seconds before at-
tempti ngto restart u nitto allo w switch toreset.

the muffler . A hot muffler can cause serious

2. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
3. Move the start lever to the ST ART position.
