STAR TI NG A COLD ENGINE ( or a
war m engine aft er runni ng out of fuel)
1. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
2. Move throttle lever tothe START position.
3. Move choke lever to the FULL CHOKE
position.

4. Pull starter rope sharply until engine at-
tempts to run, but no more than 5 pulls.
5. Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE posi-
tion. Pull starter rope sharply until engine
runs.
NOTE:Ifenginehas not startedafter 5pulls,
repeat all of the above steps.
6. After a 10 second warm-up, move the
choke lever to the RUN position.
NOTE: The engine speed can be adjusted
by m oving the throttle lever t o the left for low
speed or right for high speed.

7. To stop engine, m ove the throttle lever to
theST OP
positionandhold untilengine
stops running.
NOTE:If engine does not stop, move choke
lever to FULL CHOKE.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. M ove throttle lever to the STARTposition.
2. M ove the choke lever to the HALF
CHOKE position
.
3. Pull starter handle sharply until engine
runs.
NOTE:If engine does not run after 5 pulls, re-
peat ST AR TING A COLD E NGINE p rocedure .
4. After a 10 second warm-up, move the
choke lever to the RUN position.
DIFFICULT STARTING (or starting a
flooded engine)
Flooded engines can be started by placing the
choke lever in the RUN position and thethrottle
leverintheSTARTposition;th en,pullt hes tart-
er handle sharply to clear the engine of excess
fuel. This could require pulling the starter handle
many times depending on how badly the unit is
flooded. If the unit still does not start, refer to
TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Avoid t o uching muffler
unless engineandmufflerarecold.Ahotmuf-
fler can cause serious burns.
WARNING: Disconnect the spark
plug before performing m aintenance except
for carburetor adjustments.
CHECK FOR LOOSE
FASTENERS AND PARTS
S Spark Plug Boot
S Air F ilter
S Housing Screws
CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR
WORN PARTS
Contact an authorized service dealer for re-
placement o f damaged or worn parts.
S Throttle Lever . Ensure throttle lever func-
tions pro perlybymovingthethrottle leverto
theSTOP
position andholding untilen-
gine stops running; thenrestart engineand
continue.
S Fuel Tank. Discontinue use of unit if fuel
tank is damaged or leaks.
INSPECT AND CLEAN UNIT & LABELS
S After each use, inspect complete unit for
looseor damagedparts. Cleanthe unitand
decals usingadampcloth withamilddeter-
gent.
S Wipe off unit with a clean dry cloth.
