1. Remove the retaining washer from the
threaded shaft of the gearbox. Leave the
dust cup on the shaft.
2. Install the blade and the retaining washer
over the threaded shaft.
3. Make sure the raised part of the retaining
washer i sfacingthe gea rboxand theraised
area fits into the hole in the center of the
blade.
4. Slide the blade and retaining washer onto
the shaft o f the gearbox.
5. Place the cupped washer onto the shaft.
Make surethe cuppedside ofthe washer
is toward the blade.
6. Install t heblade nutby threading ontothe
shaft counterclockwise.

NOTE: M a ke su re a l l p a rt s are i n place as i l-
lustrated, andthe bladeis sandwiched b etween
the dust cup and the retaining washer. There
should be no space between the blade and the
dust cup or the retaining washer.
7. Align hole in dust cup with hole in side of
gearbox by rotating the blade.
8. Insert a small screwdriver into aligned
holes.Thiswillkeeptheshaftfromturning
while tightening the blade nut.
9. Tighten blade nut firmly with wrench (pro-
vided) while holding screwdriver in position.
10. Remove the screwdriver.
11. Turn blade by hand. If the blade binds
against t heshield, orappears tobe uneven,
the blade is not centered, andyou must re-
install.
NOTE: To remove blade, insert screwdriver
into al igned hol es. Unthread t henut andremove
parts. Be suretostore p arts andinstructions for
future use.
ATTACHING THE TRANSPORT
GUARD
NOTE:
Thetransport g u ardmust always be
attachedtothebladewhenthemachineisbe-
ing transported or in storage.
1. Remove ends of wire retainer from the
clips on the transport guard.
2. Lift wire retainer and position blade in
transport guard.
3. Place wire retainer over blade and insert
both ends ofwire retainer back into clips.

OPERATION
WARNING: Be sure to read the fuel
information in thesafety rules before you be-
gin. Ifyoudo notunderstand thesafety rules,
do not attempt to fuel your unit. Contact an
authorized service dealer.
FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
This engine is certified to operate on unleaded
petrol. Before operation, petrol must be mixed
with agood quality 2-cycle ai r-cooled engineoil.
We r ecommend McCulloch b rand oilmixed at a
ratio of 40:1 (2.5%). A 4 0:1 ratio is obtained b y
mixing 5liters of u nleaded petrol with 0,125 liter
of oil. D O NOT USE automotive oil or boat oil.
These oils will cause engine damage. When
mixingfuel, f ollowinstructions printedonoil con-
tainer. Once oil is added to petrol, shake con-
tainermome ntarilyto a ssurethat th efuelisthor-
oughly m ixed. Always readandfollow thesafety
rules relating to fuel before fueling your unit.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended fuels
(called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol)
can attract moisture which leads to separation
and formation of acids during storage. Acidic
petrol can damage the fu el system ofan engi ne
